Hey guys. This is kind of a follow-up to my last thread. There I asked many of you what you had done to make things any different. Here I'm asking you, "What are you going to do?"

I always tell students it's better to show not tell, so here we go!

What I'm doing- Tonight I started writing a short scripted mystery that will serve as a tutorial to answer a lot of the common SM questions that people have.

How long will it take me- Hopefully I will have the whole thing done in a month (but with me who knows).

What would I need for it to work- I'd need it to be approved as a Scripted Mystery and ideally I'd like Ben to make it free to all players.

So what do you think guys? What can you do to help Sleuth?

The next topic I want to address is some people who have graciously told me they have a problem at looking on the web page: http://playsleuth2.com/Noir/bonus/Scores/AVHtournament.spy?id=3

Riza told me she would get a Spyce Exception (= error) when she looked at the page, and Aknas told me she got an error when she was looking at the http://playsleuth2.com/Noir/bonus/Scores/avhSelectedList.spy?id=3 - which is a page I have created just to see that I have managed to collect the information, before I started on the presentation in a more sensible way. (id=1 is a small test tournament I put up without people knowing, id=2 is the All for fun tournament that Riza put up some time ago, and id=3 is this beta test tournament). The error Aknas recieved: Spyce exception
File: /var/www/html/Noir/bonus/Scores/avhSelectedList.spy
Message:

UnboundLocalError: local variable 'sleuthName' referenced before assignment

Stack: avhSelectedList.spy:11, in (main):

page = noir.requestNoir(sleuthName, 'GET', theLink, '', spyceSessionValue, debugState)

indicate in my eyes that there is a problem looking at the page when you have not logged in to playsleuth2.com. It was not my plan to introduce that problem, but obviously I have made some mistakes. :-(
I will look into this when my head is starting to function again. Right now it's very tired... :-(
I will be very interested though, if anyone get some errors, if you would care to copy the information you get when the error occurs, as it will help me to search for the problem and correct it.

In a couple of additional tests that Aknas was willing to do for me, she indicated that the problem she had was related to what kind of browser software she was using. She told she had problems when using Firefox, and that it worked when she used Chrome. If you get the same difference I will be happy to know, as there are some differences between the browsers what they handle and what they do not handle on a web page.

This First Blood benefit/award thing sounds like a very good idea :-) If someone knows more about it, or will try describing what kind of award/benefit that is going to be, I would be happy to know.

As the "Captured Villains" page offered by Noir does not include timestamp, and I have not yet implemented something to go through the news to find the timestamp, I will be dependent on the one who does the "first capture" be willing to look at the score page before someone else capture, so that the playsleuth2 server will be able to (when I have learned it how to), determine who was the first one to do a capture. But, I believe this requirement (you have to look up the page quickly enough) is not a requirement that will be seen as too hard to accept. - so if someone give me an idea of what a "First Blood" benefit/award was/should be I will be happy to know :-)

Seems like the current problem with spyce exception is due to not being logged in. You may log in to the site at: www.playsleuth2.com

It might be worth noticing that the sleuth you use to log in with at playsleuth2.com does NOT have to be your valuable and working part of an AVH tournament for the information to be collected. If you are concerned with question of whether passwords are collected or not (they are not, but you will have to take my word on that), find yourself some unimportant sleuth (might be unsubbed), to do the login and looking at score... "someone" might be you, but it does not have to be "you" :-P

Oh, what a disaster!
I am unsubbed, and therefore unable to travel to Shangri La :-P

Oh, shit, but well, I guess that was part of the plan :-D
Some of you already know that when you are not subbed, you are not allowed to travel, so joining an AVH tournament and not being subscribed is not a good idea :-P
Unless, of course, you are planning a disaster :-D

LOL Huglover!

Well, it can happen to all of us. You can incorporate it as a testing factor. :) :)

Happy hunting to all of the rest - and have fun!!!

Hi All :-)
I am really sorry that I have not been able to put up any better scoring for you, so that you may better get the impression of where you are compared to the others.
Yesterday, when I came home from work, I was really exhausted, and have now been sleeping in at least 24 hours, just interrupted by "body cleaning" (I.e. exposing of any fluid content)
But, let me assure you: it IS being tracked whenever someone looks at the "score page" where all the sleuths in the Tournament are, including city. So, all of those who have gone through Cairo, if there ever was someone looking at the "score page" when you were active in Cairo, the database knows, even though it does not look that way yet.
I hope to, but cannot promise, that I will be able to display the tracked information during the weekend (i.e. tomorrow), including the list of cities that have been tracked for each of you. (I guess that information will be hidden later, but I want to show you this time, so that you can confirm that information is collected)
