Hello all.
I'm fairly new to Sleuth and I thought I might share a little hobby of mine with you all. Here's something for that sad moment when the mysteries of the day are all done.
Thousands lay up gold within this house,
but no man made it.
Spears past counting guard this house,
but no man wards it.
What is it?

Moonhh is right!!!!!!!!
This one is dumb, but I did a "oh yeah" when I read the answer.
As Sid Shady boarded his flight to Israel, he noticed an old acquantance a the back of the plane. He shouted a greeting to his friend by name, then knocked on the cockpit door to say hello to one of the pilots, who was also an old friend. Several moments Shady was arrested, why?

Ooooooh sunny so close, I actually going to rule it as the right answer. On my answer sheet it said that Shady said "Hi Jack!!!"

All the windows in your house face south. You look out a window and see a bear walk by.
What colour is the bear ?

Jojo, that is my reasoning as well, although really, one could have a house elsewhere that happens to have only south facing windows, I suppose.

Black/Brown. Polar bears only appear white because their fur (which is black or brown) as unusual optical properties which allow it to light as a way of conserving heat.
(Sorry sometimes I have to be a smart alec)
