Hello all.
I'm fairly new to Sleuth and I thought I might share a little hobby of mine with you all. Here's something for that sad moment when the mysteries of the day are all done.
Thousands lay up gold within this house,
but no man made it.
Spears past counting guard this house,
but no man wards it.
What is it?

Well done.
And as requested:
A hempen finger,
An outstretched arm,
A noble, patient stance.
A pull,
A crack,
And darkness comes,
A dead man learns to dance.
What is it?

Good idea John Hale!!! And welcome to our little town!!!
Here is one for you, if you already known it, as it is your hobby....let someone else have shot.
(I have plenty more where those come from.)
Heidi Greenfingers has a cottage situated on a well treed lot in Northern Scotland. She enjoys keeping her lot in top condition by fertilizing, pruning and removing deadwood and broken branches. However, Heidi has rather strange habit regarding her little forest. Every once in a while she'll chop down a perfectly healthy tree and put it in a large pot. She'll water the tree and fertilize it etc. and a short time later when she grows tired of it, she burns it. Could there be any rational explanation for this seemingly strange behaviour?

I would guess that the tree she cuts down is used as a christmas tree and then later used for firewood.

YAY, correct. Her is another.
A woman from London married 10 different men from that city, yet she did not break any laws. None of the men died, and she never divorced. How was this possible?

What is the beginning of evil, and the end of life?
The poor have too much.
The rich have too little.
It is more evil than Satan.
It is more great than God.
What is it?
