Lady Jas had a technical malfunction with her mouse that resulted in her getting three false accusations (one of the perils of using a laptop computer). A lot of good people have rallied around her, but she has just lost a detective with oversix million xp.

I realise that there are many who know Lady Jas better, but I would just like to lend my support to a request for having her detective re-instated. Please feel free to add your condolences and support below.

Thankyou.

I must say I find the discussion refreshing. It can be devastating loosing an experienced detective and I have seen it happen to people and they never play again. We have one in eye spy who was a great team player and did not ask for much from us and built himself up to the point of getting a little apartment. Since his accident he has not come back on to create a new character and we are not sure he ever will. I wonder how many detectives have been lost because of this issue. Does this hurt the game and maybe even the bottom line financially ….maybe so! It can be heartbreaking I am sure. I do like the suggestion that you do get one last chance and I mean last. The pop up idea (roamie) is a good one I think! There are detectives out there with very high experience points and not enough cash to pay shady. Not all have the resources of the larger established agencies. It is hard for people to beg for money but it might make it easier if they know it is do or die! They might open up and ask for help.

I like the suggestion Ben has brought forward more than the others I have seen on this thread, all due respect being paid to those suggestions.

Then again, I don't hate the current system. Maybe I'm a little detached about this due to recent circumstances, but I don't feel the need to mourn the loss of a character, no matter how unfortunate, experienced, popular, etc. the situation is. Arabesque is now AraLives, and doing quite well. LED became LRC and never looked back. Now we have Lady Jas instead of JasNMushu, and I feel that she'll be advancing quite quickly over the next few weeks.

If there isn't a defining "you do this and it's all over" aspect to Sleuth, I worry that the emotions involved in character building will be less legitimate. I truly think one of the best things about this game is that once a character is gone, they're gone. It makes the characters in this community more "real".

But, like I said, I'm speaking from a very unique position at the moment regarding loss and condolences. That being said...Jas, you have my sympathy. I wish you the best in your efforts to rebuild.

I KNOW I HAVE NOT BEEN AROUND HERE AS LONG AS MOST OF YOU,BUT I FEEL I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY IN LIGHT OF RECENT EVENTS.FIRST OF ALL,I AGREE WITH BENS IDEA OF HANDLING FUTURE OCCURENCES.SECOND,AND TRY TO STAY WITH ME,ON ONE HAND YOU HAVE AN INEXPERIENCED DETECTIVE(LESS THAN 300,000EXPERIENCE).THIS DETECTIVE MAKES THREE FA'S AND SHOULD THEREFORE BE RETIRED.REALLY THIS WOULD APPLY TO ALL. ON THE OTHER HAND,YOU HAVE A SEASONED DETECTIVE(6 MILL +EXP)WITH ZERO FA'S AND ALL OF A SUDDEN GET'S THREE IN A ROW.SURELY ANYONE WOULD SEE THE FOLLY IN THIS.NOONE WITH THIS MUCH EXPERIENCE WOULD MAKE SUCH A MISTAKE.THEREFORE THIS MUST HAVE BEEN A TECHNICAL ISSUE AND NOT DONE DUE TO ANY FAULT OF SAID DETECTIVE.I PETITION FOR THE IMMEDIATE AND FAIR REINSTATEMENT OF jasNmushuWITH NO EQUIVOCATIONS.THANKYOU

From what I understand, she was in the process of paying shady off when it happened. I know that because she told me that's what went down. I know her, and I believe her. I do recall something about someone's cat jumping on their keyboard and THEY got resurrected.....

what happens if someone does not have enough money to pay off shady when they get their 2nd FA?

hmmmm quasi-maybe-not-so-original idea... maybe one of the factions, or even a new mysterious faction could have the ability to resurrect, for a price. Maybe someone who is retired could come back as a ghost and haunt former colleagues and friends, trying to get them to find this faction and purchase the ludicrously expensive resurection glove.... (sorry, been watching too much Torchwood)

there IS a mysterious faction (but it doesnt exist), and if you're part of it, you can have magical things happen, like making whole agencies disappear!

Actually another possible solution is perhaps allowing a detective to pay off their debt little by little instead of the one lump sum. It seems to me that a lot of the damage is being done by having to gather a massive amount of money while treading the edge of the blade of retirement.

Perhaps you could have an input box for paying partial amounts and after that, the game could keep track of the amount paid in, and subtract it from the full amount owed based on experience to show how much of the debt remains. When amount paid in matches the amount owed based on experience, the FAs are removed from the record.
