Unacceptable Sleuth Behaviour

I've been playing Sleuth for almost a year and the reason for that is a really great, tolerant, caring, generous community that strive to help people out.

I know agencies are always helping out other agencies and that agencies at time s have donated gear and money to a new agency to help them out.

I think that's why it really pisses me off when people take advantage of this situation.

I know it doesn't happen that often which is amazing itself.

However, I find when people join an agency and are given gear or money for a specific purpose then leave and start their own agency this is totally and utterly unacceptable.

I also think that people going around and begging for subscriptions is pretty unacceptable too. Especially when Sleuth is well-priced and secondly is not (*GASP*) an acutal need for our well-being.

I know that people including Blue and I have given out Gift Subscriptions before but ONLY because the people were great, friendly and nice and never asked for them!

Anyhow, I just needed to rant and get it off my chest. I'm sure there's other unacceptable behaviour too. And none of us are perfect.

All in all, Sleuth is such a great community with great people and Ben, Sunny and the Mods, and most of the community work hard at keeping that way.

Yeah unfortunately it happens once in a while that a bad agent, robs equipment locker, or resigns from an agency forgetting put their outfit back in the locker, or after receiving money and equipment starting their own agencies. This really sucks, and can be incredibly frustrating. Aside from spending your own time to donate equipment and money to someone else, and just feeling ripped off. I think the worst thing that it ruins and raises suspicions towards the majority of newbies who are kind and nice people. In an ideal world raising ranks in an agency should just be a simple reward for going good work, and not also a way to lock away your money and equipment behind lock and key because you can't trust anyone.

Personally the whole begging for subscriptions, REALLY gets to me. Particularly when people have multiple doubles asking the same question with each double. Why would I donate a subscription based on a random PM begging for inherently money? I have given out free gift subscriptions, to friends, but also to people who never asked for it but did contribute a lot to the community and the boards. As long as sleuth is indeed required to inhale or exhale, those sollicitations are downright unacceptable, off-putting and annoying.

And with that I would like to ask to entire sleuth community to never encourage or reward subscription begging from complete strangers. If you really want to donate, pick a nice person who contributes to the community and looks like a nice person, but for some reason doesn't have a subscription.

I agree 100 percent, and I have been acussed of trying to take over an agiency and that person just thought that, there was no evedence what so ever that I was doing that, there was evedince that I was helping the agency grow,it was the(I think)the brother of the real creater of that detective.

A warning to those who might or have considered trying these tactics:

Established agencies are much more easily able to replenish equipment and money than you will be able to reestablish your reputation. And contrary to what some may think, there IS a network between agencies that is used to keep tabs on rogue detectives. Once you have broken the trust and unspoken rules stated above, the chances of you being hired again by a legitimate firm are zilch. Do yourself a favor, please, and earn your money and equipment the legal way. You'll be much better off in the end.

^^That's right^^

There is network that will warn other agencies of detectives who take part in unsavory activities.

Once you have lost one agency's trust, you won't be hired by any big agency every again.

Yes, it actually reminds me the of "black lists" in the United States during the "Communist" trials.

Once you are on the list, it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to be hired.

It's probably possible to be hired, but less possible to *stay* hired.

Yeah, I've heard about this recent case as well...proof of the network's existence. How juvenile can you get?

I know! Before people in my agency quit (they do after a day or so) they steal stuff from the equipment locker and sell them. Doesn’t matter if there new, it’s still wrong after I tell them.

One can only hope that these rare individuals who do these things learn from the ostracization they incur. The problem is there is really no way for us to know. As in this most recent case, the person's detective has been retired, stripped, and unsubbed. Who are they now? One hopes that they have learned a lesson and will not come back to try to repeat the mistake.
