I notice still a lot of unsubbed people go through time and effort to find an agency to join on the recruitment thread.

Perhaps maybe it is a better idea to give them read only rights, and when they try to post that they are directed to a new page with a disclaimer (or FAQ) on only being able to join agencies when they are subbed. Then a list of reasons to sub. If there are more questions to go to the newbies thread.

I'd be willing to write it, with some help of other experienced Sleuths.

The disclaimer/FAQ may become a good comprehensive guide for people who are not aware of the additional benefits subscribing would bring.

Looks good overall, but in the first paragraph under "WHY SHOULD YOU SUBSCRIBE?", I would add "Are you trying to reach the top of a faction but someone else always has a higher rating?"

The reason is that in an agency faction cases can be given to whoever needs them. I know that it's possible for the unsubbed detective to get to the top of a faction, but I also know it's easier (and more common) for those in an agency to do the same.

My only other comment is that, as you stated the overview may be too long for some. So I'd put the link at the top instead of the bottom, since if someone doesn't read the whole thing, and they don't scroll through, they won't see the link if it's at the bottom.

And you forgot the disclaimer that Sleuth can be highly addictive.... :)

Good one Andy.

Should we throw in a free 12 step program, CFM? :)

Okay jstkdn, it's occured to me that not all directors of agencies are still subscribed! This may make it difficult for them to recruit new members if they can't leave messages on the recruitment board. Just a thought...

Hmmm, I didn't think of that. Let me mull over that one.

Is there an agency where none of the directors have a subscription?

One problem with making the thread read only is tha Sleuthville would never have had the benefit of watching Behind Closed Doors slowly go crazy on their threads.
