Some of us have interesting reasons to pick a detective name. What is yours?

jstkdn which some people don't realize right away stands for JuST KiDding! It is something I tend to say a lot in real life after a lot of sentences. A good friend of mine in the US had jstkdn as a license plate of her car, so I wasn't that inventive myself.

My previous other agent was PM, which stands for Project/Program Manager, my profession in real life.

My only detective that I currently play with is freelancermountaineer. Only because Freelancer was taken. Sidney Bristow in the Alias series uses two call signs freelancer and mountaineer.

Mine because it matches the agency :)

I chose Tagasiyasat because it is Filipino for detective. I like kind of not-so-common foreign languages.

I was listening to Captain Beefheart's Safe as Milk album when I was creating my detective and I found his a good name.

Well Psi-man is a phonetic pun on my own name 'Simon', but 'Psi-man' was already taken so I had to add 'Inspector' to the front.

Firstly, I wanted to give a "real" name... because, well, it's like a neverending crime story/book, and I wanted my detective to be like a heroine in it :). Also, I wrote a novel a while ago, and its main heroine was called Millie Mannings. I like how this name alliterates and it surely has that noir vibe, so... that's the story of the name :).

(sorry for potential grammar or spelling mistakes, I'm Hungarian :D)

Mine was fairly easy. I already knew from a test character that I wanted to join Vampiric Crypt. So I created Night Queen, a character they couldn't (hopefully) resist. They took the bait, and I am so glad!

Emily as a nod to Lady Emerald Devon and Hill as a nod to Blueberry Hill.
Emily's middle name is Ruby :)

When I signed up, I deliberately did so with a troll username in an attempt to offend/amuse people. After about 2 months in, I started writing my first scripted mystery and I realized I really liked the community, so I e-mailed Ben and asked him to chance it to my current name. The only people who might remember me as what I used to be are my original agency mates in Ona Mission, Ben, any admin who could check the records, and the one other member here that I've actually told. Other than that, it's something I'll take to my grave. The only thing I'll say is that it was very similar to my current name.

Well I picked mine after reading Agatha Christie's Ten Little Niggers. Although I didn't like the character in that book I did like the name, so I used it

Pink Floydian way of paying homage to anyone or anything that becomes a part of your world and expands it and a way of self-relaxation, too :)

picture belongs to Gabriel Byrne(as Marcia Gay Harden putting a gun against his head by the chin) and the shot is from Coen Bros' Miller's Crossing. He had a thing for his hat. The hat was one of the recurring symbolic themes in the movie, and it stood for a restless quest of belonging in an unpredictable world with no reference points, I believe. It's been years I saw it, I may as well be exagerrating and romanticizing the movie and where the hat belongs in it.
