I am happy to announce that the latest expansion to Sleuth: Noir, the Nemesis Hunt, is officially live as of 23:00 server time on September 9th, 2012. That is a full hour AHEAD of the scheduled update time, so first off let me start by thanking Ben for everything he has done to enable this expansion from day 1. He has been very open and supportive in this endeavor, and none of this could have been done without him. So thank you, Ben.
Now, on to the good stuff... how do nemesis hunts work?
If you have captured 3 or more Arch-Villains (10 starting October 1st), you are able to start a Nemesis Hunt. The first step is to head to Shangri-La and talk to the Prince.
...and that is the only step I will give you.
Good luck everyone! There is a special achievement on the line for the first person to capture a Nemesis, so get to it...

I am only behind because I had 4 days off ;)
Lets just continue and work on fixing bugs. If we need about 28 clues then I for one do not want to start over.

What is really good is the fact that honest people, like Eden is, are bringing issues like this in light so now we are all aware of what is happening and all can plan accordingly.
Nemesis hunt is a major advantage in sleuth world and as such needs a prolonged testing period. My suggestion is simply give time to Serge to fix bugs like this and we all can simply avoid the glitch until the bug is fixed.
If some people have cheated exploiting this glitch so far (and i am not officially accussing anyone for doing so) then simply we can as a community bypass their behaviour (as we did with similar behaviours in the past) and move forward as errasing the work of all honest may be very demotivating for those who honestly try

Thanks to Eden and VS for reporting this bug on the community boards. At the end of the day, as with previous bugs and glitches, it will surely be dealt with appropriately. It also seems very likely that there is indeed a way of tracking individual game play to see if a bug or whatever was ‘exploited’.
However, getting hot and bothered because the potential for exploitation is flagged up is rather silly. Moreover, it is exactly the kind of attitude that can lead to suspicions, lol. My observation on the rate of progress of some sleuths had no reference to the current/recent front-runners. I assume ‘leaping way ahead’ is the cause? Hmm â€" no, if I had had to bet on who would do well in this kind of thing my money might well be on people like Riza, VS, Andrew C. or Vulkie, for example. Excellent sleuths with a strong record of achievement. I commented on the apparent overnight rate of progress of some who had (as far as I recall) been on zero. I, for one, would not be entirely happy continuing in a contest that is very bugged-up. It would still be fun and interesting but I couldn’t really see it as a contest. Surely no-one would? For that reason, Eden is probably spot-on to suggest looking at this first round nemesis run as ‘another period of testing’. Particularly in view of all the other anomalies reported in this thread.
I’ve also had some detectives approach me for help with clues â€" that’s fine, I don’t have a problem with it. People help each other in all kind of ways here. Cairo clues, Shangri La caves etc, etc. It’s a community. If the game should ever prohibit us from providing hints to others, then I would abide by that and say ’sorry, can’t help’. But I wouldn’t slam someone to whom I’d provided a hint as not having solved their case ‘individually’.
PS. I completely take your point VS :)

Hey hey come on, no one's accused anyone of anything, take it easy :) There was some problem that needed to be reported/discussed whatever, that's just all.
Cheat & exploit, I believe are terms that are used to describe specific type of vulnerabilities. Kids have created pages of them for a variety of games, lol it cracks me up. So it just means that a game needs to be fixed, I suppose, because potentially, in theory at least if not yet in practice, it could be exploited.

I think that in the spirit of the community, things like supposing anyone leaped or advanced in their hunt using a glitch shouldn't be written in a public space, since it can be interpretated as an inflammatory post.
That said, I'm sure everyone appreciate that Eden Zweig reported the bug, but I believe that every person I know is incapable of exploiting a glitch, so dismissing the hard work of anyone as cheating is ludicrous.
I hope we can hear soon the opinion of our administrators.

Just relax folks. I'm sure we trust each other enough to be able to be big kids and just play the game in the spirit it's meant to be played in whilst Serges & Ben fix the glitch.
And there is absolutely no reason to assume that because someone is X missions into a hunt that they have exploited anything.
Only people really thus far who really experienced the glitch are Eden by accident, and VS for err 'testing purposes' lol.
And certainly *not* Corelli or a host of other players I spot-checked.
So please don't spoil anyone's VERY hard slog by accidentally or unwittingly casting a shadow on their progress.
Thanks to everyone who has given Serges and Ben a lot of feedback about this rather messy glitch.
It's much appreciated.
Squirrel out.

People are just overly sensitive. Again, people need to remember something here...it's a game. Who cares!? Just play it and enjoy it. Bugs will come and go.

Pending upload to the game server, the glitch wherein one could receive multiple townie missions from a single case has been tracked down and appears to be fixed.

Serges, will you posting about the other thing any time soon? I mean the clues: I still have 7 clues in the city hall accounts but it should be 5. I mean the matrix has to be reconstructed so as to render any 2 of the 7 clues useless, I suppose?
And, in addition to that I have 1 freely gained clue in Shangai. I haven't received it so that "get the clue" prompt can be removed, somehow I suppose.

PS
Andrew and the following posters: There's nothing overlysensitive or unwitting. No accusation was made or implied whatsoever.
BECAUSE
"It is subject to exploitation" by no means conveys that somebody has already exploited it. It doesn't even mean that the potential exploits would be intentional. But if it went on like that it definitely would be more problematic.
Think of me as an example: I would have been exploiting the thing myself if I hadn't checked my detective page and realized I had more clues and tasks etc. I'd talk to myself "uh you forgot it again, you must have solved a nemesis case" lol
That aside, yes, cheaters too can exist even on Noir, is it so weird to think they can? lol They are everywhere; why Noir should be an exception? Saying that cheaters can potentially exist, that it is mathematically(lol) possible has no implications or bearing on any particular individual player, has it?
