Once again, turmoil is brewing in the underground crime world of New York. The city is slowly being taken over by La Cosa Nostra, the New York underground mafia. They are recruiting members at record numbers and they can be seen in every night club and bar scaring away customers. And now Joseph Hollis, the High Philosopher of the Order of Socrates, and mayor of New York, has learned of a secret plan by his rival faction, La Cosa Nostra, to go on a crime spree and make off with money, valuables, and ultimate control of various establishments in New York.

Mr. Hollis, being not only concerned with the livelihoods of the patrons of his city, but also with his rival faction gaining too much power, has decided to put together a team of trusted Order of Socrates resistance operatives to foil the plans of La Cosa Nostra. Unfortunately, there has been a lot of attrition lately, and certain people have been going to the highest bidder to offer their services as a spy working from within the Order of Socrates. Joseph is aware of this and he's put together the best possible team he can think of, but unwittingly will be inviting some spies for La Cosa Nostra to his team of operatives.

As long as the loyal Order of Socrates operatives can figure out whom amongst them is untrustworthy, their mission should be a success. But if they trust the wrong people, La Cosa Nostra will succeed and cause severe damage to the New York economy, while gaining enough power to take over the city.

Will the mayor and his team be able to restore order to New York? Or will the underground mafia, take over the city's resources? That's for you to decide in this version of The Resistance: Order of Socrates Restores Order

Great success! Glad about it! Now, Marc, one of these abilities should come to me I think. If you are Resistance, you will keep the cards in the family and if you are a spy, you can count on my discretion! :)) Either way, make me feel important here mate! :)

I kind of want to suggest to Marc how to divvy up the cards, but it might give us more information about him if we let him make the call.

Let's see who he picks :)

@Eden:

I guess I could have been more clear on my mathletics.

If Biggie is Resistance, then any team with her, you, me, and illicit is guaranteed to succeed because of the 2 spy requirement.

If Biggie is a spy, then one and only one of {M. Lacrimosa, Riza, Cekuray, Molly} is a spy. Any team with her, me, you, and illicit has a 75% chance of only having one spy (biggie) on it.

So, based on the math alone, we have an 87.5% chance of succeeding this mission having 4 of the 5 team members be Serges/Eden/Illicit/Biggie. (Assuming for this exercise that there is a 50/50 shot of Biggie being resistance)

In addition, this is the part that will give the Resistance the win:

IF Serges, Eden, and Illicit are on the team for the 4th mission, and Jason and Ms. Helen are NOT on the team, we win unless the spies somehow force 5 failed proposals in a row. Here's why.

Serges/Eden/Illicit are confirmed Resistance. If the 4th mission fails, it's because the other 2 members of the team are BOTH spies. Which means we will have successfully ID'ed all 4 spies. The 5th mission team, as long as it excludes those 4 spies, is guaranteed to succeed.

I love how this is shaping up :)

Serges: the leader isn't Biggie.

here are the event pool:

1 ) Biggie is R

a)Biggie's not chosen into the team
b) Biggie's chosen into the team

2) Biggie is S

a) Biggie is chosen into the team
b) Biggie's not chosen into the team.

Any option is possible. All have .25 chance

given 1, then 1a and 1b have .5, given 2 then 2a and 2b each have .5. And if Marc's a spy, he can as well choose any other.

I have stated the obvious.

lol serges I take it all back.

Anyone who has read my comments and got confused: Forget it.

I thought that spies could win after 5 mission failures, forgetting the fact that these failures had to be successive.

My bad. I should've read the rules multiple times.
