What is this brass rings about. I have been gone for awhile but now I am back and I want to know more about these rings. This is new to me.

No one knows what the brass rings are but there is a strong possibility that it has to do with the Boardwalk. Perhaps something similar to the Journal pages found on the Sleuthetania?

maybe we could run into pirates instead of traps.. so those who of us who have hostage negotiation could talk our way past them, while those unfortunate souls with trap detection would find their bums out in the ocean.

I think it's more similar to the race track, where you would pick a horse and see if you will get a brass ring from it.
