It would seem that when you get your contacts have less to do with how much experience you have and more with how many favours you manage to complete in succession. If you stay in the same city and solve every case and every favour you will get your contacts much quicker. Often two real life days at most.

Anyway, just reflecting. ;)

Yes. I wasn't after a particular contact. That is correct. I do get the feeling also that the game circle the favours through all the townies almost faultlessly (emphasis on almost) so that you after having stayed in one city and completed all of your favours for a longer time period you start getting favours for the townies in the same order. Over and over. It will take some time though and it's awfully boring. ;)

Well... I'm on my sixth trip on the Sleuthetania and still only have one contact (picked up on my first trip). I've done all my daily cases every trip and have only had three PE townie favors the entire time. Of course, it could be that I'm the exception...

Yeah, if it only takes you two days...lucky you. I've been stuck in London for quite a while now.

I've yet to meet anyone, subbed or unsubbed, generic contacting or specific hunting, that's managed to track down BOTH contacts in one city in two days. Course, if you're solving 100-200+ cases a day, I s'ppose it's entirely possible. I've known many more people who're in the weeks/month+ category.

And sorry, but the person who tells me that he can solve every case and favor he comes across is either stretchin' the truth (just a weeeeee bit) or a false just waiting to happen.

It just doesn't happen, folks.

Well Breit, here you've met one person xD. I've succeedded into getting 2 contacts in 2 days, same city. Cairo I believe. First day,got the banker. Then the other contact, the spice merchant on the next day. Well,my advice is : "Keep doing favors and keep Sleuthing!".

I remember Ben once saying that it is a lot easier to get a second contact in a city if you have over 150k exp. Plus, its also probably worth pointing out that nothing works truly "randomly" in this game. There is always a formula somewhere. Its just a case of being in the right place at the right time.

Well, my girlfriend just got both her contacts in Delhi in two days as well so I rest my case.

Breit, if we go for the easier cases while contact hunting, it is possible to solve all the cases and gain a maximum number of favors per day. This would definitely increase the probability of getting a contact.

Adam, I did hear a rumor that some townies do gear toward and away from certain fractions. Once I tried to get a tailor (i forgot which city) as my contact and I was going at it for over a week. Then someone told me that it is because I was LCN-. I didn't really believe it, but began to increase my LCN standing to try it out anyway. In the end my agency didn't need the tailor and I went for the barber instead, so the 'experiment' never materialized. Anyone with similar story?

The Faction-Townie Connection has been rumored since at least 2006. I've not seen any evidence presented in the forums, but then I'm not sure if methodical and valid investigative techniques have ever been applied to finding out.
