I've noticed how I have picked up certain superstitions when playing Sleuth that help me decide who I'm going to question and who I suspect. Some I'm trying to stop doing. I didn't like going straight back to a suspect who I've used lock picking on because they might realise I broke in (OK... I thought this when I first started playing it because they always seemed to clam). Others are things like positions the suspect appears on the sleuth helper (very top or very bottom seem guilt more often than they should be :/ ).

I was just wondering if anyone else has other susperstitions when they play, like a first name they always suspect or an avatar that always seem to be the killer?

On my previous detective i used to have judge of character. On this one, i don't. However i still insist on clicking on the button to judge even though i don't have it. And then i go to sweet talking. And i usually cringe a little or shut my eyes to convince myself it won't work to perhaps trick the computer into doing me a favor. Totally stupid, right? It hardly ever works.

Also, if the client has a fake alibi or is lacking one completely then i immediately head for him or her first, no reason why.

If a person is a mean looking woman i generally consider them the killer (Sorry girls, i really have no problem with you).

And i always go through all of the witnesses that i didn't get any info form the townspeople from first before hitting up the people that know who the murderer is.

I also am convinced that if a person knows the murderer but has a fake alibi that they are guilty most of the time. And that if the person has a fake alibi but knows nothing they are usually not the killer. Not true all the time however.

Who is the guilty one?:
The one who hides is likely;
the one who has clammed;
the one who has the same alibi as the evidence in question;
or failing that, the one with the most ridiculous name.

Yup - works for me.

My "superstition" is that if any of these really work Admin. will change them. Thats why I won't post mine ;-)

Anyone who has read my posts at Big Lucy's knows that I have a thing about the Menkveld clan. Yeah, there's a reason for that.

It's usually the Menkveld. If there is even one Menkveld on the list, there is a 99% chance that they dunnit.

Why? I dunno. Maybe someone named Menkveld ticked Ben off and this is his revenge.

Damned Menkvelds.

I agree with Anikka . Names are indicating killers almost 100%. Every town has specific Killer names. If you make a statistic in every town writing down the killer names you will discover it . It always work and certain names have rarely alibis.
Maybe the Administation has real killer names in every town as an inpiration and keeps on using them as always commiting the crime !
You can discover them all if you make an analysis and have a 100% guarantee in solving all cases.
I could offer a list but I consider it as a major spoiler.
Just a Name hehe just think of poor Kong and ask yourself how many times have you have cuffed him ?

Thanks Anikka, I'm sure Ben will fix that now. Remember what happened when someone posted a way to force a twist? We can't do that anymore, can we. We need a Mod to come and delete this thread before Ben reads it.

Come on Sophie !
We should all wellcome the Admin to fix all that makes the game too easy.
I am 2 months in the game and I can finish any AI case in 3-4 min (lol if server is not lagging) and I am sure that all you more experienced players can do it in 2-3 min maximum so where is the challenge ?
It will be much better if anything that makes the game predictable is eliminated by the Admin !

Heh. It's true, Sophie, that my giving away of how to force a twist on SleuthTips caused that to be killed, but that had been tested by myself again and again and again, and it always worked. It wasn't just a superstition; it was fact. But then, even if I was to delete this thread, Ben could still go back and see it. :D

Forcing a twist?
The twist will appear on the map page, so refreshing the map page multiple times will in most cases make the twist to appear. But, somehow I don't think that was what you were thinking of? Since it could impossibly be a secret.
Completing any AI in 3-4 minutes in most cases needs a program to do, since there are a certain minimal amount of questions that needs to be asked in any case, and the time to "switch" picture ain't exactly zero on the Sleuth server...

Forcing a twist: It was something I discovered and I released the information on how to do it on SleuthTips.com. Previously, the twist showed on a different URL than the Map screen URL that it now does. So, before, it was possible to just link to that URL and the twist would automatically occur. It could actually be very helpful... before it was switched.
