I've noticed how I have picked up certain superstitions when playing Sleuth that help me decide who I'm going to question and who I suspect. Some I'm trying to stop doing. I didn't like going straight back to a suspect who I've used lock picking on because they might realise I broke in (OK... I thought this when I first started playing it because they always seemed to clam). Others are things like positions the suspect appears on the sleuth helper (very top or very bottom seem guilt more often than they should be :/ ).

I was just wondering if anyone else has other susperstitions when they play, like a first name they always suspect or an avatar that always seem to be the killer?

I've decided that crunchpatty and Secret Squirrel are rarely guilty when their avatars pop up but they are often suspects in murder cases on villain hunts.

I also find it helpful to check the evidence on those suspects that hints have been given on as I find they are often the guilty party if they have fake alibis.

I find that surveillance works better for me if I get them to clam up on me again right before I try it. It's probably just my imagination, but I still do it every time anyway.

The 2 suspects on the very top or bottom of the list also seem to have the good WE evidence and are who I go to first. I don't use any of the sleuth helpers so I don't know if those programs change the order from what you see on the sleuth screen.

My superstitions are related to the game being sentient and actually learning as i play so it can stop me from solving a case.

When on a TH, if I need a favor for the Barber, I will go to him constantly while working toward the next favor and ask if he needs on even though I know that I still have more to do to get a favor. I will do this during cases, after cases, before cases, anytime I go to see him. This is all in the hopes that he will eventually get tired of me asking and finally say. ok do the favor then leave me alone!

I find when I get Bens avatar he is the guilty party 90% of the time. ; )
So I usually check him out first.

Also I think that my client is guilty more often on the third case after a favor.

Lefties and clients are my two most likely guilty people. When I come across a left-handed note, it's usually the one I look at first, and more often than not, that's the one. And when I'm at the end of my evidence-checking and still haven't nailed anybody down yet and need to go to W/E, if the client's still a viable suspect, he/she's at the top of the list. More often than not, I'm right.

The Music Teacher also seems to hate everyone in my Agency. When I happen to find a favor from her, I usually handcuff her to the Agency's basement wall til we need her. We think when a hunt comes up, she goes off on a romatic assignation to Delhi with the Fortune Teller. ;-)

I'm stalked by this Henry Newsom person. He shows up in about half of my cases (at least it feels like it). What do he want from me? I can't remember if he ever has been the killer, he just lurch around and always have a good excuse.

lol I have heaps.

If my avatar is the client I am invariably guilty.
If I have the Tailor as my contact and I get three threads and one note, it'll be the note that I want.
If I get four notes and one is left handed, I always go (like Breit) to the left handed person first.
If I have to choose a Suspect to ask Witness Evidence about, I always choose who is highest on the list first. And then if available the bottom person on the list, then go back to who is next highest... *twitches*
I used to go males then females, but I went off that last year.

That's a good start, magic troll dolls, finger crossing, and mystic chanting aside.

I use my own privately developed "automated sleuth helper", and in contradction to what are experienced when you sleuth the normal way, all the new suspects are put in the bottom of the list, in the order they are revealed. Then, when a case need more suspects (ie. the last suspect), the one most likely to tell me who that last suspect are, is the second last revealed suspect. I guess there are some statistically reason for why, but my experience are that more than half the times, this second last will know the last suspect (if his motive question is not already used of course...)
