there should be an ocean liner that one could get on ( a substitute for a city ) and one could solve a mystery around the ship ( the grand salon, the kitchen, the boiler room, the cabin, etc. ) and a computer game of 21 could be in the grand salon. one could stay on the ship to solve mysteries but the ship would not have any treasure hunts and one could not buy an apartment on the ship. from time to time the ship would dock in shainghai, and everybody would be kicked off the ship and find themselves in shaingahi..the ship would stay in shainghai for say 3 days and fill up again ( perhaps a limit of 20 players only ) and then sail off so to speak to arrive in london two weeks later..then everybody would get kicked off and one could get back on to be the next 20...the deal is when the ship leaves port you do not know to which city it will travel next..you
take your chances and every two weeks it kicks you off...perhaps one could limit 20 players from always staying on the ship by either charging a higher and higher fee to get on if you kept getting on all the time to stay on the ship or perhaps the computer would just let the first 20 on or perhaps the computer would take the last 20 who just got off and not allow them to get back on in the next 3 days at all....it could be called "the sleuthetania"...

Can I just say (12 daily cases+ favors)*20= No more passengers left on the ship/ train :P.
Maybe have a single person treasure hunt where the treasure is the villain but you don't do favors to get the clues you do regular cases, like an AV.
Basically a single city AV against other det's but with a time limit.

I don't know if this could be done. Since the cruise will have limited number of passengers (players) on a trip. Can we have a major case for the trip?

I mean one big case that everybody on board can work together. Each player can sleuth only a few of evidents, suspects, and witnesses. There'll be no other way to solve the case than work together.

We could make Ship Lounge as chat room that only passengers can access. Detective will talk here and exchange info. But for accusing part, i have no idea yet. Like who can accuse suspect? and from which condition?

BTW since not everyone may enjoy this, you can choose to play it or not. But you can only choose to involve at the beginning of the trip.

Now that would be cool. I love that idea Dan Morihiko. It would really be nice to work with people outside you agency. That way the train and ocean liner would be different than villian hunts. Instead of being isolated, you can work in a group to solve one case. Fantastic idea Dan.

I like the idea of a serial killer on the Sleuthetania that would lead you through multiple cases on the cruise ship that you must catch before the boat docks. You could catch him/her by getting clues from solving cases (similar to AVHs)

I have been around for a while now and have never seen Ben's seal of approval so prominently on a player idea. How exciting! I've been on hiatus due to general Sleuth burnout, but would definitely come back for something like this!

All these ideas are so great! One way, if Dan Morihiko's idea is used, to solve the problem of who accuses is to have 2 leaders chosen, maybe randomly, that would be responsible for accusing/solving the mystery once all the needed clues are gathered. (We would need 2 in case something came up with one of them). Maybe a nice way to have this would be to have a cruise ship where people work together gathering clues and then the train which could maybe be more of an individual hunt. That way you could choose what type of thing you wanted to do. Along these lines the train could always be available and the cruise ship could be twice a week, (since it's a group deal), with the location of where either will depart from in the City News.

Train name suggestion: "The Black Bullet"
Also liked Daves suggestion "The Noir Express"

As for a third option for travelling to Cairo: how about a zeppelin? A luxurious way to travel, mixed with a feeling of danger.
