What's the general opinion about twinking? Personally I'm against it. I just wanted to hear what people think. Also I'm aware that you can't access higher level cases until you reach a certain amount of experience, but that limit is loose.

For those of you who don't know what twinking means, it's when you have more than one character and give money and/or equipment from one of your characters to another to give it an advantage. It's normally used to give powerful equipment from high level to low level characters that normally can't access it in the game because for some reason it's not available to them.

Look it up in wikipedia or some similar source if you want to read more.

Twinking? I dont know how you can twink unless you were in the same agency. And then its not Twinking it just part of being in an agency and helping out other players.

No no.. it's not considered twinking to give stuff to *other* players. It's when you give to yourself.

I think the point is that, if you subscribe that detective and put them in an agency, anything they get is what the agency would give any other player, anyway.

This is not really a game where you can twink, with the possible exception of creating a brand new detective, subscribing them, putting them in your own agency, and loading them up with AV gear. And I don't know of anyone who has ever done that. All the AV gear in the world won't help a bit if you don't have the skills necessary, and those skills only come with time.

I'm really not sure whate you meant by one of the statements in your original post. "Also I'm aware that you can't access higher level cases until you reach a certain amount of experience, but that limit is loose."

What limit is loose, and what do you mean by loose?

I meant that with enough crazy equipment you could possibly handle cases that would normally be too hard for you, and that way earn experience, skill points and cash faster than would otherwise be possible, and thus create an upwards spiral.

But hey.. I'm not gonna be pointing at people and saying "You're a bad person". To each their own. I was just wondering if there was a general standpoint in the community.

There's no rules against it, and I know a lot of people who have given equipment to their doubles, or used a double to generate more money. The only true competition in the game is experience, and there's no way to really abuse that short of violating the "no more than two subbed detectives in any agency" rule. Violation of that is pretty equally frowned on by everyone.

Also, the majority of your stats in tough/charm don't come from equipment, they come from the advanced skills/flirting/pugilism.

Well Jim I have killed off many detectives but all of them on purpose...heheheehe. I have felt is was up to myself what I did with the gear and cash as I had earned it. Sometimes I just put everything in the agency safe and locker and other times I just send cash to other agents in my agency. And sometimes I gave it to others in other agencies to pay off shady or a new piece of clothing as a reward for all their hard work. My feelings are if I give it to my new detective or someone else that is my choice. What fun would life be if I could not give gifts to my freinds :) or treat myself?

Most agencies will help out new people with gear and cases to "level up" faster so that they can help out the agency better. No matter if it is a new person or a second (double) of someone already in the agency.

The only way to do this is to have two detectives subscribed and in the same agency. Which if you are paying for two accounts, you might as well be able to share case loads, money, equipment and the like.

And Biggie is correct. More than two detectives in the same agency is against the rules.

I will offer that it is very easy to have more than two detectives in an agency run by the same person.

There are several agencies in the game that have one to three real players behind the 9 or 10 detectives. With password sharing and being able to access every detective in an agency it does not really matter who created the detective in the first place. (which is the two detectives per player rule cited above)

As players leave the game thier detectives sometimes become 'shared' in an agency and they used by everyone. This makes it easy to push all the cases from that zombie detective to the other active players who want the cases. Or use them for their PE contact, etc.

It is one of the reasons I am hoping that Shades of Mystery starts with some sort of prohibition on password sharing.

Okay, well, password sharing may be exploited (although it really is) to get around the two detectives per agency per person rule, but in regards to only having one double in your agency, I see nothing wrong with transfer of money/equipment from one to the other.
