This thread is for ideas, suggestions, proposals, etc. NO idea is too silly to mention :) although some might be too impractical to implement.
As possibilities become probabilities, I will create another thread for the Con itself and concrete facts/decisions/information.

I like the idea of a host family and I need a vacation. Does anybody know someone in Italy? Between now and next year I may be able to sell enough blood to buy a plane ticket. ;-)

HHHhhhmmmm, my family is Italian. But I dont know anyone from the "old" country. sorry. :-)
Just keep yourself really hydrated and selling blood everyday shouldn't be a problem. Good luck. lol
Maybe a lemonade stand on the side?

I hear organs are going for pretty good rates these days; not that I'm condoning selling your organs for SleuthCon tickets... just that it might be a good idea for you to raise money.

Actually, piggie backing will be the easiest to put together since I won't have to worry about dealing with the hotels, arranging meals, etc. All I have to do is plan events and arrange a meeting space.
and blood donation... hmmm... well, as Roamie said, keep very well hydrated, drink orange juice and add in some iron supplements. Personally, I think the lemonade stand might be more lucrative, but selling your blood has no start up costs :D
And organs... well... I think the latest trend is for pianos. Organs aren't selling as well right now lol :D

Actually a host family is a really good idea. There are some amazing and generous people out there that open up their homes to complete strangers. :)
Ive never actually stayed with a host family, but I have stayed in Hostels, and that was a real fun experience and cheap too! Something to ponder over definately!!

I'd be willing to help out if sleuth con ever decides to come over to the west coast :)

Does Gencon not have a large on the door ticket price. ( I know the UK gencon does) making the cost even more prohibitive. Also id be much more likely to turn up to one in Baltimore :)

I live an hour and a half away from Indy and my mom- and sister-in-law live there...so I might be willing to put up a Sleuth guest or two if Indy is picked out. Of course, I have to say that Cincinnati is a very nice city and has lots of hotels and riverboats to hold events on... ;) Plus, it's an hour and a half from Indy for those who would want to stick around for GenCon...but I'm a little biased, since I live about 15 minutes away from Cinci in Northern Kentucky. I would TOTALLY move al-Q into my basement for SleuthCon II!!! :)

wow.. so many suggestions....
Jas... the first thing we said at Sleuth Con I was that then next convention had to be on the west coast or in the Middle... and that we need to rotate it back and forth.. that way everyone has a chance to have it closer to where they live. (well those of us that live in the US anyways..)
I love the idea of video conference.
