As a real life private investigator, I've noticed that a great deal of the duties that come with the profession aren't listed. I know this game tries to stick with the whole film noir theme (and does a great job of it), but I think for the sake of investigators who want to make some chump change to pay their sketchy bar character tab, there should be alternative cases to the standard murder investigation. I'd like to see more cases about cheating spouses, thieves, tracking down information about people for clients, and perhaps some surveilence jobs. At the moment I only have a free account, so I'm not aware what other types of jobs are available to subscribed members; but I still think it would be nice if the cases had a bit more variety.

After all, how many of these poor NPC's have to die each year? ;)

This would be an awsome idea! I would love it if you could also choose what type of case to go out on.

Maybe if they get enough people signed up they could fund a whole new game design, one that is very non-linear.

Thank u hehe I like the idea of having different scanerios to cases. This was Bad's idea. I think it's a good idea if we could do "little jobs" for Clients ,besides the usual cases. I know we do favors for townies, little jobs for factions, but how about something different, for Clients? Chase a serial killer, etc. He can explain it better Im sure lol but its a neat idea to add something different to the game. Not that there is anything wrong with it now, ofcourse :)

Thanks for your support to this Makensie...I believed I said it somewhere that is game is already pretty advanced and I pity those who still are stuck with some other RPG that's not even close to the variety and level of Sleuth! Well, ignorance is bliss:)

It's my firm belief however that everybody involved in this game loves to see detective work as "real" as it can possibly be. That doesn't necessarily mean that everything there is right now has to be thrown away. Solving cases and treasure hunts are part of the design of Sleuth....

However there are already some elements that might be interesting if they could be combined one way or the other. So far we can only do favors for townies....how about favors for clients or suspects (what the heck! we could even throw in Shady...). The main objective here could be the search fo serial killers. like treasure hunts they could also be single of multiple-city hunts. The factor "luck" could also be involved here but also other things like questioning, profile-development and "little jobs". What I like personally about these little jobs is the fact that you owe it completely to yourself when they're messed up.

I'm still not sure of the hunt for serial killers has to be the result of group-effort or by the effort of every individual detective. I think there are pro's and con's for both cases. What would also increase the attraction of this new possibility is the fact that you don't have to be in an agency to participate. Needless to say that a hall of fame for the most succesfull bounty-hunters will only add to the fun.

Waiting for some feedback...

Speaking of Shady, and favors....how about, if we have 2 falses, when we have to go to shady. How about the choice to either pay him the money or do a favor for him,to clear the falses? As long as the fav wasn't too easy to do. I mean, want to make it some-what difficult....and if u accuse wrong on that particular fav for him, you wont get another false, you will just end up having to pay him the money anyways. (he could say something like "Nice try "detective name" now pay up" ) Ok so maybe I just owe him more than i can afford, and trying to find a different way out LOL ;)

Anyways..back to Bad's ideas.....that just made me think of that when he mentioned Shady :)

I think searching for a serial killer would be fun. I also like the option of doing a favor for shady or paying up; His fees seem to rise faster than I can make money. For instance, I worked on a Ridiculously Hard case worth $750; That does not include paying townie bribes, after solving the case I actually made $250. At my level a false accusation = $25k

I like the idea about doing a favour for [or including] Shady in the case scenarios. Perhaps something along the lines of Larry in New York, where Shady comes up spontaneously in the game and you have to do an [incredibly?] hard [harder?] favour for him and he then owes 'you' a favour. Which might be clearing your debt if your a beginner and then can be adjusted with the more experince you get to just become a % discount on your 'shady bill'. Obv. it would clear each time you use the favour. OK there's some holes in this theory, but I still like the idea of Shady being involved. [LOL no ulterior motive I'm debt free ;) ]

I do like that idea..if you complete the fav, there is some kind of discount on shady bill. My bill is in the 900,000's so heck yeah.Id welcome that lol :)

It could even become more hilarious if Shady turns out to be a serial killer himself and has to bribe his way out himself -LOL!!!
