Just out of curiosity, has anyone been booted from the net while playing Sleuth? I am a paid subscriber, but, I have been booted twice and it has taken a long time to regain DSL connection.

As this is rather indirectly related to the game, and not about content of the game, I am moving this to Gumshoe.

Well, it seems that my Internet options settings keep miraculously getting changed, which is causing some of the problem. I didn't say ruined, I just said booted. I was wondering if this was a fluke or if anyone else had any problems.

That sounds a lot like some sort of spyware. These spyware things always try to change the Internet Options, most notably your starting Homepage. Or it could also be a virus.
Perhaps you might like to try running a system scan with your Anti-Virus program, and also an ad-removal program.

Yeah, it does sound like spyware. Try SpyBot and Ad-Aware. (Google them)

can spyware or a virus prevent you from doing a scan?
I have similar problems and when I tried to scan my computer suddenly re-booted itself!
Weird.

Yes, I had this problem with a virus, if I recall correctly. I assume it can also be done with spyware, although never heard of it, or experienced it. I suppose it can also be a glitch in your operating system.

I believe it can, Sam. After all, viruses are written by people - programmers/hackers - and sometimes they will try to come up with viruses that deliberately stop the Antivirus program, such as preventing you from making a system scan.
In some cases, the Antivirus program will lose the battle and then you'll have to reformat your hard disk and reinstall the OS.
