For the cheerfully pessimistic detective!

1. Your client did it.

2. Buying Advanced Thread Analysis means that all threads immediately disappear from the crime scene.

3. The question you need answered most is the one the witness clams up on.

I'm sure more experienced players can add to the list. Care to have a go?

you just nicely get the contact you want and they never have any evidence, or alibis or anything.

not that i'm hinting about the foot doctor in delhi :)

you've just nicely got the person you want to accuse, you go to accuse them and guess what they've been killed.

You have 5 suspects. 1 (not the client) has an alibi that checks out. 2 say that it's none of your business, 1 has a fake alibi, and another has an alibi for the tailor, who has clammed up tight. There is one thread at the crime scene. One thread, 4 possible suspects, and a tailor whose mouth is closed tight, wants way too much money, and won't respond to any of the persuasion methods. SIGH...

No, no, no. Advanced Thread analysis DOES turn up threads....Actually, two more than is needed. So, now you have 3 perpetrators to choose from! WHOO! And, of course, you pay somebody money for a direct answer, and they're all like, "Uh, yeah, she was here the whole time" or "No, this isn't Bob's hair". =D YAY!

OH! And of course, you get a hint from one of the townspeople saying "Hunter Zimmerman knows who the murderer is..." you go over to good ol' Hunter's place, and BAM! Somebody got to him first! OR, he clammed up. And you NEED this guy to testify.

One bad day in the life of my detective:
1) First case: 3 Footprints, Footprint analysis didn't work on any of them, and on top of that 2 suspects claim they were with the Shoe Maker. Result: everyone clams up so I have to quit
2) Second case: solved, +160 exp
3) Everything seems to go fine until I go to accuse my client...and realize I don't know his Motive. One suspect gets killed and the rest clam up before I get a motive so I quit again...

Well, at least my standing with the Order didn't go down for the first time in days because I was forced to quit case number 3...

Okay, I HAVE to share this! Even if the 2nd half of it belongs to the 'Dumb Luck' Thread.

You are client and 2 suspects in and you have just received a PM with a precious tip from a nice girl: don't check on alibies before checking on motives! And while you are thinking about it, you realise you just clicked the alibi question. Happens, right? But as it also happens, that was the only question that was to be answered before they both clam up. But hey, no reason to give up. Two townies clammed and the third spooks out a name. Work from there and end up with 500 or so less, with townies and suspects either clammed or dead and having 5 could-be-suspects. Of which one without motive, a clammed one who won't even be nice enough to say something about an alibi and one who really only wanted the tailor as an alibi, the tailor who clammed up before answering a thing, when accidentally two of the evidence are threads (and of course both male, together with four of the potential suspects) . That leaves 2 suspects with motive AND fake alibi. Of which one dies.

So far this was Murphy stamping on my head today. But Mr. Murphy had gotten me pissed enough to make the last possible even if completely unprobable move: get rid of some more money, pick out one of the two threads and check it against the only suspect I had both motive and fake alibi for... and it was his. No, really. I will go bang my head on a wall now to recover from the shock.

LOL these are all so funny, and so true, and forgive me if I am repeating but....

You have a full complement of PE contacts in your agency. One person leaves to travel, who has the ONLY barber contact...all of a sudden every case that turns up the logs has at LEAST two hairs for PE...lol

Miss Adellaide, I've had the same sort of thing happen I can't tell you how many times. It gets to be rather funny after a while.

How about playing your 3 cases (if you are unsubbed like me) and then coming back to the site to get on the message board only to find that there is a free featured mystery that you could play except for the fact that you don't have any more cases left for the day.
