Codenamed "Whitenoiz", Helen Bell is an experienced paranormal investigator turned private eye. During her former occupation, she specialized in attempting to record some of the very first EVPs (electronic voice phenomena) by using a phonogram and a blank record. Despite her lack of success in the area (her only real area of expertise was in the analysis of ghost photography) she eventially developed the nickname "White noise". When the firm of paranormal investigators she worked with was closed down due to financial difficulties, she decided to search for a job in a new field. Having seen the apathy the local police dept. held towards the rising rate of crime in the area, Helen decided to become a detective.
While it was (and still is) rumored that Helen participated in a black ops. mission in the Soviet Union as a cold war operative, and merely used her occupation as a paranormal investigator as a cover-up, she blatantly denied any connection, stating that it is absolutely ludicrous that a woman in this time and era would be subjected to such "harsh and bloody conditions". However, government records do show that she has received a surprising amount of US military training under the name "John Bell."
