'carbonated soft drink' lol. Here in Scotland I'd just say fizzy drink I guess..though I've heard 'ginger' before. On the whole soda mixer thing I'd call that soda waterlike lime and soda or whisky and soda. Soda water has a taste to it so it's not fizzy/carbonated water and tonics different, more dry.
Rockwell - ask for mineral water without gas or whatever they say 'agua mineral no con gas' in spain I think not sure what 'still' would be in french though.
And anyone interested in irn-bru (Scotland's other national drink) should check out the article on wikipedia - priceless!

uh, if you want to say 'mineral water without fizz' in spanish, its just 'agua mineral sin gas'
france, its 'l'eau plat'
italy, its 'acqua naturale'

where i live now, people call it 'pop'. when i lived on the west coast, it was called 'soda'. anyone here just call it coke? my relatives live in the south and you would say: 'can i have a coke?' 'what kind?' 'uh...coke' or 'uh...orange'. now that's strange, lol.

Coke. Yes I live in the south. Here if you are talking about a soft drink you call it coke. As in.."Would you like a coke?" when actually all you have is Dr. Pepper.

I would consider soda to just be plain unflavoured soda water. And 'pop' would would be the sound that comes with opening champagne. :D If anything I think most people I know would refer to pop/soda it as a 'soft drink'.

How 'bout sodapop.....That's what some people call it. I'm not converted to either side, I call it pop or soda.....It depends.
