Hello everyone. I’ll be hosting another game of Resistance, and I encourage all lurkers from the previous game(s) to come out and play! We’ll keep it simple with just gameplay and no story this time. And if you’ve never played before, feel free to jump right in, because we all need more imaginary problems to worry about. :)

The game takes place over a series of 5 "missions." The Resistance is trying to complete 3 missions successfully, while the spies are attempting to sabotage 3 missions. First one to 3 wins.

I will serve as game master. Once we get enough people to play (5-10 total), I will PM everyone their allegiance (either "Resistance" or "Spy"). If you are a "Spy," I will also PM you the names of your co-conspirators.

A "leader" will be chosen at random for the first mission. The leader has 2 important functions:
1) The leader will assign various "role" abilities to players. These are one-shot special powers a player can use to learn more information about someone.
2) The leader will assign players to the "team" for that mission.

Missions will have a varying number of players who are selected; the leader picks a team, then every player will vote on whether or not they approve the team by PMing me. Once all the votes are cast, I will post the voting results. If a majority approves the team, the mission starts. If not, the mission does not start, and the next player in line becomes the new "leader" for that round. This continues until either a mission is approved, or 5 consecutive mission teams are rejected (in which case the spies win automatically.)

Once a mission team is approved, those players will PM me their choice of action during that mission. Resistance players will ALWAYS choose to have the mission succeed by sending "Success," while spies have a choice: they can either elect to have the mission succeed (to throw off suspicion), or they can "Sabotage" the mission.

Well, I have to admit that I am curious as to why Bela and shell both voted no on a team they were both on. I think I might have missed something one or both of you said while discussing this proposed team. I went ahead and voted yes this time because I have no idea at this point who might be Resistance and who might be spies. I'm looking forward to seeing what team Bela puts together.

Actually, Miss Snopes, I think that this game's goal is to win 3 missions, not to figure out who are the spies. So that's why Bela and shell and even me support the 1st team (the team already succeeded) + 1 more person.

Look! If you are required to search the catacomb, and supposed that you don't have trap detection, will you try to go every direction or you will keep following the way you was safe on?

And for your curiosity about shell and bela, it's better to know that if they are resistances, they won't know each other. They might find each other reliable but not totally. So knowing only themselves resistance does not mean we are gonna get a successful mission since 3 other members of the team might include a spy (which is in very high possibility) and just only 1 SABOTAGE is enough to make the mission fail. So are you willing to take risk?

@ Ty - yes, the game's goal is to win 3 missions. And in order to do that we have to figure out who the spies are!

Also, its pretty standard for all members of a first Mission Team to vote SUCCESS. It doesn't always happen but it's pretty common - and for very obvious reasons. It could be that, by pure chance, everyone the team is RESISTANCE - but if there are any spies they will often want to hide their identity at the outset by voting SUCCESS and hope for chances to SABOTAGE later. Fairly simple logic.

As for the catacombs, without trap detection we have no way of knowing which is the 'safe' way until it's too late! Unless we get lucky : )

I'm curious that Sal has been pretty quiet recently and I'd be interested to hear what his views are at the moment. Also I think that Bela has already stated what her team selection would be if she were leader so I doubt we'll see any surprises there.

My team: shell, Tyrano, Sal, and me. :D I'd love to see all those yes-sayers try to do an about-face now. :)

I agree with Ty; we need to win 3 missions, sussing out who the spies are is supposed to be incidental.

Can I vote? It's a YES! :D

I'm a little surprised, I was expecting Aspen, Bela, myself and then either Sal or Tyrano.
Why both of them?

Bela, could you give me any reason for the team you pick? Actually, I prefer a team with me, you, shell and Sindy. Since I and Sindy were in the previous successful team. A team you pick is not different about the term "totally new" with the team Aspen picked. So please give me any reason to approve it?

Zara, I have fallen behind on the thread. I played golf Friday and Sunday. A bite to eat at the clubhouse, a nap when I get home I have to catch up now. Since I'm also playing tomorrow, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday this week. I'm going to have to do my catching up today. I must say that at first glance I am quite confused by what I have read. People whose allegiance I was fairly sure of, have surprised me some and I'm in the process of reexamining things even farther back. I will do my best to get up to speed today and see if I can add my own thoughts to the thread as soon as I know what they are.
