After years of anticipation, the Battery Boardwalk has finally opened its doors to the general public. The residents of Sleuthville come streaming in through the ticket booth--a line stretching as far as the eye can see. Among those gaining entry is a group of elite detectives with complimentary day passes to the attractions, invited specifically to keep an eye on things. A week prior to opening, the higher-ups at the Boardwalk had received anonymous threats of sabotage and murder if the Boardwalk was not torn down immediately. However, the proprietor was not one to submit to intimidation. Thus, on opening day, a group of highly-ranked detectives were tasked with keeping the park safe.

Unfortunately, there have been rumors floating around that some in the ranks of the elite had been approached by the mysterious threat-maker, and were now working for him to guarantee the day would end in disaster. It is said only those who turned to the dark side knew who the others were; everyone else had to eye each other with suspicion and make their own judgements. Although the team has been compromised, there is no time to vet and assemble another one on such short notice. Yet the day is young and there are plenty of opportunities to ensure opening day is a success.

The detectives’ job this fine day is to make the rounds of the park and keep an eye out for any suspicious or potentially dangerous activities. If opening day goes off without a hitch, the Boardwalk is sure to bring in millions, and the detectives would stand to receive a substantial cut for their services. But if it were to fail, then Sleuthville would be plunged into financial ruin and return to the days of never-ending guilty clients and exorbitant Shady fees. Oh no.

Will the Battery Boardwalk’s grand opening be an unparalleled success, or will it go down in flames accompanied by nothing but the screams of disappointed visitors? Stay tuned to find out in this installment of The Resistance.

We've got to pick a team of Resistance players for this mission, or (failing that) at least something that would give us a better idea of the right team to pick for the last mission. Normally I try to use cards and proposal and mission votes to figure out what to do because otherwise I can make some pretty awful choices. I don't have much to go on this time. Like I said before, I don't even know if you're Resistance, Sal, but I'm trusting that you are because this is how you normally play. If this is an act...I will be scared to play Resistance with you ever again. :D As for everybody else, I *cannot* try to figure you using past games, and while I've had suspicions at several points during the game, I can make a case for everybody being on either side, and that will drive me crazy if I don't let it go and let a mission pass at some point to figure out more. I'm not a fan of admitting that you spies have me stumped, but: well-played. :D

I don't like it when I have to take chances, and right now, other than the spy-splits I've worked out, I have nothing to go on. These three-person missions only need everybody on it to vote YES to go through, and nobody will question you for voting YES to a team you're on, so you'll be safe if you're a spy and you say YES here. I was on the last team proposed and my vote was the swing vote since everybody else was pretty sure of what they thought there. If I were a spy, I'd say sure, let's try that out and get my team a second win. But I'm trying to make sure it's a team I can make sense of; there is NO REASON I'd have to vote down a proposal I'm on and then write huge posts trying to get on the next team if I were a spy that just needed to get onto a team to sabotage it - that is the most meaningful defense I can offer that is screaming that I'm Resistance. Sure, if I were a spy, I could be doing that so I could say this later, but really nobody has bothered to disguise their votes this game. CONTINUED.

The spies NEED to win this one; if any spy is on the team that goes on the mission, they HAVE to vote sabotage - the risk of being discovered is outweighed by the need to stay in the game. So all they need to do is get on the team *somehow* - I'd be a stupid spy to vote down a team I was on, a team that would have gone on the mission if not for that vote. Voting YES wouldn't have "exposed" me either, I could have bluffed through it or even just say, "yeah, I'm a spy" and trust that the other spy would get on the last mission. I realise I've repeated myself a few times but I just *need* to get this through to the other two Resistance members.

Thanks for the input Bela. I would like to see some more posts before I pick a team though. Speak now or hold your peace. You might not like the team I pick. I might not like the team I pick and hope for it to be voted down and have Bela take over. You see how I'm leaning by my "track odds". Now's the time.

No takers. Hmm.

Well, I could be wrong here, but...

I have to go with what I think I see happening. So here's the team I'm proposing.

Zara, accept my apologies, it was a whisker thin call. So close (for me) that I really did flip a coin. I was leaning toward you being resistance. I wish I would have heard from you here. It may have kept me on that track, but these are the two that I have had successful missions with.
miss snopes, I see that most material against in your position. I do not deny that you may still be resistance.

In any event, this team can always be voted down and I'd be fine with that. It's up t you ladies now.

No worries, Sal. At the end of the day it's your decision. I felt that most of what needed to be said already had been. I also felt that Bela's long posts justifying/explaining why you should choose her were clearly the tactics of a spy trying to persuade others that they are part of the Resistance. I thought you would see that. But I understand your difficulty too. Until those posts appeared I felt fairly strongly that Bela was Resistance. Not so much now ; )

There is a spy on this team. There must be. I know that I am Resistance and I know the identity of one spy who is not on the team. The other must be on your team.

I can't decide whether to veto or to let it ride. If it's a 'no' to this team then leadership passes to Bela. Her team of choice will also contain at least one spy - i.e. herself and/or miss snopes (Note: Bela mentioned in an earlier post that she might well select miss snopes as a team member). In other words - it would be out of the frying pan into the fire. A win for the spies in either case. And I think someone mentioned earlier that there is a limit on the number of times we can vote 'no' to team proposals.

I believe this game is going to go down to the wire whatever we do. I see the spies winning this round. Mission 5 will be the decider. I'm not happy about it. Over and out.

Damn, you're all convincing Resistance players. I'm sure I was a very convincing as Resistance as long as I didn't call you a spy. And the only reason I'm doing that is because it's come down to you vs. Sal. To whichever one of you is actually a spy: congrats! You're so convincing that part of me really just wants to go with the Mission 2 team again. XD

It is my turn as leader next, we'll see how the voting goes.

Zara I understand that you feel that you have said what you had to say. Perhaps Saying it here would have been enough to make me stay the course on pick you over Bela. I admit that I don't know for sure. I may still vote no on my own team.

I can't decide if I want this vote to go through in order to expose that you do, in fact, have a spy on this mission. On one hand I feel that is the only way my co-Resistance members are ever going to realize I am Resistance. But on the other hand, approving this mission team is a 100% certainty of a sabotage which would even the score 2-2.
