After years of anticipation, the Battery Boardwalk has finally opened its doors to the general public. The residents of Sleuthville come streaming in through the ticket booth--a line stretching as far as the eye can see. Among those gaining entry is a group of elite detectives with complimentary day passes to the attractions, invited specifically to keep an eye on things. A week prior to opening, the higher-ups at the Boardwalk had received anonymous threats of sabotage and murder if the Boardwalk was not torn down immediately. However, the proprietor was not one to submit to intimidation. Thus, on opening day, a group of highly-ranked detectives were tasked with keeping the park safe.

Unfortunately, there have been rumors floating around that some in the ranks of the elite had been approached by the mysterious threat-maker, and were now working for him to guarantee the day would end in disaster. It is said only those who turned to the dark side knew who the others were; everyone else had to eye each other with suspicion and make their own judgements. Although the team has been compromised, there is no time to vet and assemble another one on such short notice. Yet the day is young and there are plenty of opportunities to ensure opening day is a success.

The detectives’ job this fine day is to make the rounds of the park and keep an eye out for any suspicious or potentially dangerous activities. If opening day goes off without a hitch, the Boardwalk is sure to bring in millions, and the detectives would stand to receive a substantial cut for their services. But if it were to fail, then Sleuthville would be plunged into financial ruin and return to the days of never-ending guilty clients and exorbitant Shady fees. Oh no.

Will the Battery Boardwalk’s grand opening be an unparalleled success, or will it go down in flames accompanied by nothing but the screams of disappointed visitors? Stay tuned to find out in this installment of The Resistance.

Sal, we can agree to say it was Big Lucy's for now. That sun is bright early in the morning after a long night.

I like your reasoning, miss snopes. It begins to look more like Zara could be a spy. Her companion looks to be Bela, but there is a chance that miss snopes is a spy per the conversations posted. We have heard nothing from AspenK yet. The first time I was a spy I tried that "laying low" tactic. C'mon Aspen, what do you think, so far?

Well, Miss Snopes could be making people think Zara is a spy to deflect from the fact she actually is the spy. Zara could have lied, but wouldn't that give her up as a spy. I don't know.

It seems likely that at least one of them is a spy, because they have contradicted each other or it could be a very neat play to catch us off guard. It's tough for the spies to win, but if they are the spies or only one is a spy, I think we're gonna need more to go on.

It is for sure that at least one of them is a spy; they could both be spies too because if they make us choose sides, they'd have a spy on both sides. I'm Resistance, and I will say I like being picked. :D But this team seems to have *everybody* nervous, and really, there is no reason for *everybody* to be nervous - I'm pretty sure at least one of you has to be feigning. Sending my vote!

Well, I know I'm telling the truth so this will be an easy vote for me.....unless anyone has any info that might change my mind?

miss snopes, I'd think that if you were Resistance, there couldn't possibly be any info that could change your mind about this lineup when you're the only one who *knows* that Zara is a spy. This is the fastest I've ever jumped to conclusions, but you seem like a first-time spy trying to figure out how to act Resistance. Zara could still be a spy now, but I think she's more likely to be Resistance. I also think Sal is Resistance, and I'm a little bit surer of this than I am of my side on the Overheard-Conversation-induced split.

Such a web of intrigue already. But I guess that is to be expected in a game where everyone is suspicious of everyone else.

Sal, I'm not sure why you feel that I was "stepping over" you by choosing Bela. It was simple logic - or rather my best try at it. I knew the identity of one spy and felt it was unlikely that I would be sandwiched between both of them. That would have meant that my choice in the Overheard Conversation - either way - would have been a surefire winner. No matter what my choice was it would have given the identity of one of the spies. I didn't feel that things would have been organised that way - certainly not for the first mission.

So I was left with a choice of Aspen or Bela. A or B? With nothing else to go on I went "straight down the middle" for Bela. I hope that makes sense even if you don't agree with it.

I have to say though that the little double act between Sal and ms snopes has me wondering ...

At this stage though I agree that we simply don't have enough data to do more than make a 'best guess'. My vote is in. I guess we'll receive the result later today.

And an big apology to miss snopes. Just realised I've been calling you 'ms'. That will never do in the land of Noir : )

This is often a game of saying and/or not saying that which boosts the idea that anyone wants to express to the rest of the group. I see SOME logic to what you say Zara, but it occurs to me that those snippets of logic comes most easily from someone trying to explain away that which looks quite suspicious. How do you account for the fact that you and miss snopes have made contradictory statements? She's a spy/I'm not a spy. It's not very often that a member of the Resistance lies.So it would appear that one, if not both of you are spies. What better cover than to accuse each other? But contradictory statements bring a natural suspicion. Since there is little else to go on so far, I can only guess that at least on of you is being less than square with us. That's all.
