Scripted Mysteries

I know that we are allowed to try a scripted mystery until we solve it,

which means that a scripted mystery has two endings only, that you eaither quit it or solve it, right?

And this also means that if you tried x times to solve a mystery and then solved/quit it, this only counts as 1 of your 12(subs.) or 4(unsubs) daily mysteries, correct?

Each time you play a scripted mystery, whether your solve or quit, it counts as a case.

So, if you've tried 3 times to solve it and couldn't, then you've used 3 cases.

That's kind of weird, I think. Thank you LJ.

Hope someone sees this:

I solved Murder on Sleuthetania, which was a "really hard" mystery that had 11 suspects with 7 fake alibi.

Is that normal? I am now kind of scared to solve scripted mysteries of harder levels, lol. What do we get then, 20 suspects or something? In an AI scripted mystery for instance?

Well...I think what you must understand is that scripted mysteries do not work on the same rules as the normal ones. The difficulty level is used simply for the moments when you need to put pressure on a suspect or a witness in order to open more or less supplementary questions.

So, when you play an SM you're basically in uncharted waters. I find that to be a wellcome challange and change from the regular case mechanics.

PS: You'll even find SM's where the murderer has a real alibi. I'd say SMs work mostly based on common sense logic.

Thank you Joey, that was very enlightening.

I should be more careful while solving SM then :)

Oh...and one more thing: if you accuse the wrong person in an SM you don't get an FA.

This is something that happened to me about two weeks ago, but it's not double checked info, so someone should back it up before you take it as granted.

Quoting from Joey's post: "You'll even find SM's where the murderer has a real alibi. I'd say SMs work mostly based on common sense logic."

1. Really??? That's new to me.

2. I'm not sure those two sentences go together...

Thanks for the confirmation, Jas :)

Cordi...for the SM where that happens I'll send you a PM, so I won't make a spoiler of this post.

Regarding the logic, here it goes: if I have someone killed I can have a real alibi as I'm not the one actually doing the deed. However I'm guiltiest party as without me there would be no murder. Since the game's mechanics only allow one suspect to be accused it's reasonable in such a situation as I described to accuse the one who generated all the fun. I hope this makes sense...

Perfect sense, thanks!
