Has anybody else had their eye on the upcoming LA Noire console game?

Looks intriguing for a number of reasons. The thing that is the most interesting to me is that they are spending so much energy trying to get the facial capture detailed enough for players to pick up on tells whether the suspect is lying.

You'd practically have to be an expert in body language to pick up on tells for lying. Although, once you know what they are in the game, they'll be the same for everyone, most likely. Thank goodness it's not real life!

Well, I know one person who's gonna get this most awesome game and that is moi ^_^. I've been waiting 4 / 5 years for this game, ever since it was announced.

The most intriguing and interesting part is indeed the recognizing of facial expressions (lying, doubt, telling the truth). But what's also important is that you get to search the crimescene and need to collect every piece of evidence you think that may be important.

Also nice is the "buddy" - system -> as you build up your rank, you go to different departments in the police station, each has a "buddy" / co-worker that goes with you on every case you do.

So, why not buy this game I would say? If you are (A!!!) detective, loyal to discovering the truth, this game may make it worth you a while ^_^.

OMG! Wish i have the time to play (actually quite good at reading people; just caught my hubby lying 2 hours ago, and he's a lawyer... but then, he IS my husband... but others too, i can tell if they're uncomfortable with their situations, having an ego trip, or 'exaggerating' what they're saying)

Sounds like a great game. Thanks for letting us know about it :)

My flatmate's been at it for the last couple days apparently it's the best thing since sliced bread.

I just started playing this the other day, and I'm noticing one of the biggest complaints that gamers have about it; there is no illusion of control. Essentially you play out the story with very little free range capability, and there's little to do that deviates from the main storyline. Whereas in previous Rockstar Games, there would be between 3-4 threads of interconnected missions happening at once, in this case there's very little opportunity to explore, or do anything outside of the storyline.

South Park seems to sum up gamer frustration with the game pretty well (Not Work Safe):

All in all, it's a decent game, but fans of Rockstar's other games are going to be disappointed.

To be exact Heim, the game was made by Team Bondi and not by Rockstar (only published). Hence the no oppertunity of so-called "sidemissions".

Little free range capability? - not at all. Lots of collectibles + you can do "streetcrimes", which function a bit as sidemission.

Personally, I think most people shouldn't complain and bring their game back then. Haven't seen one of those yet, who shred tears of feeling uncomfortable bout this game.

Personally, it's one of my favorites to be particularely bout it. It has some repetitive gameplay, ok, but there was this one case, with all kinds of riddles to get to certain locations that I really enjoyed ^_^
