Writing a featured mystery and also a cash question

I've gone back about 6 pages through this message board, and have read both FAQs so I hope no one has already posted asking this...

I'm not a subscriber, but I would like to *attempt* (haha) to write a featured mystery. I'm wondering since I can't participate in one, if there is any way I would be able to read a featured mystery so I know how they are structured etc. I know they are different from random mysteries but don't have any idea of the specifics. Reading the guidelines that were posted just confused me.

Also, I'm wondering admin-do you accept Canadian cheques (say if I were to write it out according to the exchange rate and then add a few extra dollars)? Would that be okay? If not I can go find out how to convert a cheque to American dollars.
If anyone else knows the answer to this feel free to tell me!

Ok. Here we go again with a jojo original answer.

I wrote a FM when I wasn't subscribed. IT WAS THE HARDEST THING EVER! I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND IT! I ended up emailing Ben hundreds and hundreds of times with questions. (Poor Ben. He prolly remembers them.) He had to email me with parts of FMs to give me an idea of what they were like.

So, I would just like to say: This is a great undertaking if you have never done a FM. If you have a great deal of time (a few weeks) and a great deal of patience, then go for it! Otherwise, I sadly cannot recommend writing one.
