What Can We Do to Help Sleuth?

Last night I spoke of some ideas I wanted to discuss with everyone on how to give a little kick-start to Sleuth. I would like to share these now and hear feedback. These things are not required of the Admin, but things we can do as a community to try to get things flowing again.
NOTE: Please do not bring up the development team. That ship has come and gone. This post is aimed purely at community-oriented initiatives, not changing the game itself.
Also, I would like to note that many players have been doing some really good things around here. The contests for free subs, ctown's radio show, AVH matches. I do not mean to discredit any of this. It's all wonderful. I just think we can do a little more :-)
#1 Advertising - Let's get out there and spread the word. This is a great little gem that we have found and there are probably others that would love it as much as we do. Do you belong to another internet site? A Group for Nail-Biters with Herpes? Post on the message board about Sleuth! (well maybe not that, but you get my meaning) Let others know outside of Sleuth what a great place this is. I would especially target (for Noir) adults who enjoy logic-type puzzles. That is what kept me addicted to this game for so long.

That's a fantastic idea, and it only takes a minute (or less, if you're not a fumble fingers like I am). If we move Sleuth up into the top ranks, we have a good chance of getting some new people to stop by and try it!

Plus a difference of 9 people made the game go up by about 140 people. If we were to get 20 people then we could hit the top 100 possibly.

Auntie waddles in late to the party as usual. She rushes over and pinches Ctown's cheeks and exclaims, "Auntie's so proud of her wittle Ctown's promotion, yes she is, he's such a good boy."
I like your idea Adam. I know on other online game sites people get a little perk for voting and this reallly drives people to vote everyday. Maybe Admin could give us an extra case a day if we link to the site and vote. But what do I know, I'm just a senile old lady freshly escaped from the old folks home.
Auntie looks around and heads over to the bar. Darn, its closed. Like people don't need a drink at 6 AM in the morning, what kind of place is this?

Funny you should say that Pittypat. Hobowars, the game that spends every week at the top of the high scores list on topwebgames, rewards the players who vote with something daily. I thought that Ben could do something similar for those of us who voted daily on here, once he updates the info there ;)

This is such a great idea. I've bookmarked the site and am going there daily now, we have just 21 votes this week and are currently ranked 121, so lets get out there and see if we can crack the top 100. I left a commetn there as well encouraging people to come and visit us

24 votes already and we've nearly in the top 100 :) It seems silly that we haven't done this already. Now all we need is Ben to update that page ;)

how does that site count you as one vote? i'm thinking if i vote at home and at work, using the link that adam provided, that will be 2 votes a day?

The vote works based on your IP addresses. If you are easily bored, you might want to lok away now :)
Basically, it performs a strict filter to weed out multiple votes. It does this by disregarding any extra votes who's IP address has the same first 3 parts as one that has already voted, (eg, 123.456.789.xxx). This way, people cannot just reset their router or modem to get a new dynamic IP address and vote again. In the majority of circumstances, as long as the two computers used to vote with are not attached to the same router, then the votes should both count.
So vote on whichever computers you can get to, be it home, work, friends, family, libraries, anything! The more votes we get, the more popular the game will be.
