How to attract more people to Sleuth?

If we could name one simple thing to do in Sleuth Noir, to attract more people to start playing or continue playing Sleuht Noir, what would that be?
I am asking here for things that hopefully would be little effort - much gain. Also, because I guess it would be easier to ask Ben for small-effort things, rather than big-effort things.....
And, I really want us to start growing again. Growing in numbers, growing in happiness and fun. Hopefully making more people feel included in the community.
Where do we put the focus?

Facebook, Myspace, and posting links and reviews on other sites are always a great idea. Perhaps there could be a community-organized group to handle such things?

Ben used to have Google Ads for the site, I know. Not sure if those still exist, however.

I think Ctown likes manually running the VH tournaments, Stormy. It gives you less time... I mean, it gives him more time to, uhh, do tournamenty things. Yeah. :D

Seriously, automating VH tournaments might be a way to get people to do them more often THAT PEOPLE KNOW OF. Some people might be doing their own team hunts now, but not publicising them. I don't know that they are or aren't, but it's a thought. The thing is to get more than one type of tournament automated, so people can choose what they want to do.

And a question for you, Mitstux: How, in your opinion, is Noir lacking in appearance, and what types of things would you suggest to improve it?

I kind of like the way Noir looks - it's dark and it's simple. But my question is in all seriousness, because some people do want more eye candy. But how to add it without detracting from the tone and mood of the game?

Ms Helen, I'm afraid I completely understood everything you were saying. And don't worry, I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing WITH y... okay, I'm laughing at you. :D Mainly because you sound almost exactly like me!

well, the AVH site was meant to automate them... sadly Serges never completed the project and it's run out of steam... not sure it even works properly anymore... so for newbies who haven't seen this, there is another city in Sleuth (kinda)... Chicago... if you log into the AVH website...can't remember the address, but it's somewhere on the boards.

I suppose you have seen the movie Sin City Annika so I was thinking Noir turning a bit to that mood.

This generally means darker colors with colorful details (again in a noir mood) . Maybe this could be applied on the city maps , skins and even equipment . Some .gif images could also be used for those who need even more eye candies.

I like the way Noir looks right now too but I think I will really enjoy the transition to the noir look I describe above.

And a proposition about items : How about item sets ? Maybe items sets consisting of 3 , 4 or 5 items ...And the more items you get and wear, the greater the bonuses you receive :~)

OK here is an idea of what I was thinking and it's taken right from Noir.

Although it is a unique item , I would LOVE to see every piece of equipment look like this:

P.S. Sorry for the double post :~)

Mitstux, silly question. do you want every piece to be purple? or just colors in general? I have never seen Sin City.

Is there a way to get the old automated VH site into this one and get it working? Maybe simplify it if need be? Not that I want to take away Ctown's fun in organizing.

The AVH site still exists and still works. Eventhough Serges is not around, Biggie does fix the site when soemone reports to her that somethign got messed up. I have constant contact with her so if need be I can get ahold of her.

The only reason why its inactive right now is because no one has gone to the site to start up a match.

For those of you that do not know the site it is:

www.lkentertainment.net/sleuth

Note: You need to register your detective there as well as put up your detective avatar using the last 3 numbers of your avatar picture.

To get the number you need to right click your picture, go to properties, and look at the URL address for the last 3 numbers in it.

Why does it have to be on another site? Why can't it be in this one?
