How to attract more people to Sleuth?

If we could name one simple thing to do in Sleuth Noir, to attract more people to start playing or continue playing Sleuht Noir, what would that be?
I am asking here for things that hopefully would be little effort - much gain. Also, because I guess it would be easier to ask Ben for small-effort things, rather than big-effort things.....
And, I really want us to start growing again. Growing in numbers, growing in happiness and fun. Hopefully making more people feel included in the community.
Where do we put the focus?

Sorry if this is seen as spamming or boasting, but if you want to check out my latest addition to my site (the agency site of ISAC), you are free to do so. I have put up some small things there that I have created for fun.
The last addition is a beta version of a "messageOrganizer" - a small program that will enable you to read multiple of your sleuth messages.
Hope you will find it fun to use ;-)

At the moment the background are white, to make a clear difference between read and unread, but if the feedback are that it's not soo important to be able to see that difference, I may change to more original Sleuthy colors? ;-)

Happy Sleuthing!

I am really likin' this message organiser. The ability to delete multiple messages via buttons is great. Lol I'm having the biggest cleanout of messages. There are a few kinks here and there, but overall this is something that could be very handy.

I am now lifting my personally imposed ban of the message boards to take up for this cause. When I logged on there were SEVEN people here. SEVEN. This game is great. What's happening? What do we need to do to get more people in here? It's difficult to even create an agency because there is nobody to recruit. Also, part of the fun of being in an agency is competing against other agencies in Treasure Hunts. But it seems like there aren't many agencies participating in those either.

Promoting on Facebook is a good idea. Do we need permission from Admin to promote this game on Facebook or Myspace pages?

My thought would be that if Sleuth Admin don't give a reply on this post within a few days, stating that he would NOT accept promoting on Facebook or Myspace, we may conclude that there is a permission to do the promotion. The promoting needs to be done by someone who knows how to do such things though (i.e. I don't even know how to make posts - or whatever you do - on Facebook, so I will not be able to do the promoting)

I believe I also did quite sucky on that quiz yoyo so don't feel bad lol.

As far as promoting on facebook I don't think it would be a problem. Like Ctown said there is already a sleuth group on facebook made by Ben himself and on Shades there is one of those linky things (wow my terminology is great as you can see) But basically you can link pages of shades to myspace/facebook etc. Yeah so now I have made myself look like a complete idiot trying to explain that maybe someone with a bit of knowledge could just go take a look and explain it better for me :D

Anyway upshot of all that twaddle was I can't see it being a problem promoting the game when in a sense it already is being :D

I have been thinking about it a lot of days before this post was made.

Reviving Noir is not a simple task and could take much more time and I don't think there is a simple ans pain-free way to do it so. Noir is up and running since 2004 so attracting new players or even some of the old players requires a lot of effort.

I read the "Sleuth Updates" section and I believe that Breitkat has figured out a good solution as I also believe that there is no better way to start this attempt by updating the graphic pack of the game.
If Noir doesn't attract people from SoM just to check the new and refreshed Noir , how do we expect to attract people irrelevant to Hypoware's games? I suppose that 7-8/10 of these will return to SoM but those 2-3 will stay and play in Noir too and that can be a first good step.Besides , there are many people who played SoM and didn't like it (I am one of them) and when they checked Noir , they found a game with some oldish (in a bad way) interface.

Whether we like it or not , the success of web browser games depends on 5 factors:
i)Appearance ; Noir lacks in this in my opinion.
ii)Mechanics ; Noir is great on this , some tiny modifications are just needed.
iii)Depth of the game ; Noir is quite good on this and it can get better with Breitkat's suggestion.
iv)Publicity ; efforts can be put on this after the first 3 are achieved and there is no better way to achieve publicity than the players themselves.
v)Community ; the stronger the Community , the longer the game will last.Noir has this but it gets thinner. If we get more people in Noir , it can become even greater.
