SPOILER

I read (on more than one agency page) lists where it says how many suspects and how many of them have an alibi for certain dificulties (ex 8 suspects, 3 withut alibis on hard). Therefore if I foudn 8 bad or no alibis I stopped askign others. This past case I had 3 that were no or ba d(at least I thought), I accused who I thought it was and I was wrong. The guilty party was someone other than the 3 I thought had no alibi. Obvisouly aince I was worng on my guess I couldhave been wrogn in my alibis but Ithink I have seen this before. So anyways, does anyone know if the X suspects, Y alibis equation stillworks?

I'm sure the end problem is my bad sleuthing but knwoing how many no alibis sure helps a lot.

thanks.

I have noticed on some of the easier levels of cases that the number of fake /no alibis varies

Yes, I've also had the same with AI's. Always EXACTLY 7 fake/no alibis in AI cases. I think that's a pretty steadfast rule.

Also, I think it's pretty safe to say that there are exactly 5 fake/no alibis in IH cases. 8-9 suspects, certainly, but only 5 fakes.

But now I read what SS wrote above and am a little nervous!

Yeah, usually it's the number of suspects with real alibis that can vary, however, on Intermediate and Hard the number of suspectes with fake/none of your business aliblis can also vary :)

i noticed it varies more with odd numbers than with even numbers... of total suspects, but i'm not saying that it doesn't vary in all cases...

Ive been playing with the "list" for over 2 years and never had a false accusation made by it.
As far as I know many ppl here (so probably many agencies) have my list. But its my old list!

The old version was X or X+1 suspects and Y alibis.
Now apperently there are some levels that you can have Y or Y+1 alibis. So you need to be carefull in those levels.

Another thing that could have happend is that sleuth gods didnt like the fact that I PMed my list to so many ppl and they have changed the rules :P

In most AI cases I have played with 11 suspects I have had 8 fake/no alibis and 3 reals. You are always going to have at least as many real alibis as evidence, or else you would have two killers. Or evidence which leads nowhere. Only when I have had 10 suspects in an AI case have I had 7 fakes/no alibis.

That's very strange, Jonathan, because in ALL the AI cases with 11 suspects I have 4 real alibis and 7 fakes/no alibis. One of the reals does not have evidence that matches anything. The vast majority of the cases I solve are AI's, and I have never had an FA due to this. *shrugs*

I have had a few with 7:4, but on the whole its been 8:3 on the fake:real. Strange.
