Hypnotism is a faction skill.. It might get you one more suspect when you ask if they know anyone with a motive. It would be best to get your interview skills complete before going after faction skills. You should get a full set of either charming or tough interview skills. That will help you talk to suspects and townies. There is more information about this in the first 3-4 posts on the Welcome Newbie thread stickied at the top.

could you explain your situation some more please?
Like what skills you have, are you using tough interrogation techniques or charming ones etc.

Rufus, the problem you are having seems to be the balance of equipment you are wearing and how it relates to solving cases.

As an unsubcribed detective you can not join an agency and use the locker.

So the current gear you are wearing (as I post this Tough -1 Smarts +5 Charm +1) are good for helping you to find evidence but not for getting suspects or townies to answer questions.

You should choose either charming (sweet talking/rule bending) or tough (interr/intim) and concentrate on building up those skills. To help you out on that you could go to the detective store and sell one of your items to purchase a different one that helps out either Charm or Tough.

That is not what I would do, but it is a quick fix. The best thing to do is to just keep doing the easier cases as much as you can and do every favor you can. That will give you both more cash and better gear. It takes a while, and a lot of cases, to be able to build up to the point where you should consider Hypnotism or any of the faction skills.

Well..I can buy Hypnotism and it would help me a lot. I am doing Hard cases now and I have no problems....Yeah, of course, they don't whanna answer, but from my analisys I come up with a lot of answers. All I need is a full list of suspect and on either ways I manage to get it. I have interogation skill and rule bending...

Up to you mate, but if you have enough skill points lying around to buy Hypnotism I think you would be much better off spending them on advanced interview skills.

Rufus, one more comment for you.

You say you have interegation and rule bending. So you are mixing the charm and tough skills as you go.

It is one way to build a detective, but it will be a long and hard road for you. Good luck.

Its better to have interview skills before the faction ones. You can better choose tough or charm and concentrate on thse interview skills. Hypnotism is nice, but you can still solve cases without.

Of course it's up to you, but hypnotism is one of the last things I would go for if starting a new detective. (Although very last would be picking pockets.)

What serves you well now to solve lower level case will likely change as you get up to higher levels. I know I am echoing others, but the interview skills are KEY. I also recommend following either a tough OR a charming path to start with, balanced out with some smarts, then adding in the one you don't have of tough or charming towards the latter part of your skill acquisition.
