I know we already have the Sleuths Bookshelf, but people there talk about their general tastes, what books they liked in childhood etc. I'd like all of us to share with others what we are reading now, do we like it or not and to recommend the books we like. Possibly we could have a similar thread for movies.

Wow, that's quite a lofty goal, nicnic, I commend you!

I'll have to look up that list and see if I should read some of those books. I read the Heart of Darkness by Konrad a long time ago (for school) and it was tough at first, but then it drew me in, so stick with it. It's amazing that English wasn't his first language, either.

I'm a book hopper...

Born fighting: How the Scots-Irish Shaped America (just started this weekend)

Racial Violence in Kentucky, 1865-1940: Lynchings, Mob Rule, and "Legal Lynchings" (very interesting in parts, very dull in others)

Watchmen (the graphic novel, this is my current escape book)

Wow! I was worried that I would be the only one reading a snoozer.

I am also guilty of reading two books at once. I'm reading Flowers in the Attic by V.C.Andrews. This is part of her Dollanganger Family series. I highly recommend this book to everyone. I am also reading Capital Crimes by Jonathan and Faye Kellerman. This book includes two stories from the duo: My Sister's Keeper and Music City Breakdown. I'm currently in the middle of My Sister's Keeper. It's an awesome book and I'm sure other people would enjoy it as much as I am.

Cell, by Stephen king. I like it so far, kinda a zombie thriller type novel.

I'm read Patricia Cornwell's Portrait of a Killer: Jack the Ripper case closed at the moment. It took me a little while to get into the book because of the way it's written but now I'm really enjoying it.

I read the Twilight series and The Host. The books are sooo good. However, if you don't like vampires (don't know how anyone wouldn't like vampires) the books probably aren't for you.

Time to revive this thread. I just bought 3 books from Amazon and don't know which to read first.

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (Agatha Christie) And I still like to call it the Murdr of dan Ackroyd but then a certain player of this game called me names! ;-)

Murder at Vicarage (Agatha Christie)

The Scarecrow (Michael Connely)

I'll probably go with Dan Ackroyd first but am still undecided at this point until the arrive at my doorstep!

hehehe I love Dan Ackroyd in Blues Brothers.

Anyway this year I've got into reading Karin Slaughter courtesy of the other half's mum who bought me one of her books for christmas. I couldn't put the first book down. I've read all but one of the books now and with each book the only reason I've put it down is because I've fallen asleep :)

And Ctown I'd read The Scarecrow first......then you can tell me if it's any good :D
