okay, so squirrels 'Now is the winter of our discotheque' bit over on the pub quiz thread pretty much had me sneezing my soup out laughing. It reminded me of misheard lyrics...I've heard these actually have a name: Mondagreens -taken from some poem or sonnet or something -it's original lyric contained the phrase "...his Lord and laid him on the green". This was heard by many as "Lord and Lady Mondagreen", or so goes the legend...

Anyhoo...know any? I have a couple:

Excuse me while I kiss this guy (that would be Jimi Hendrix, and "kiss the sky")

Last night, I dreamt of some bagels (dreamt of San Pedro -Madonna- La Isla Bonita)

Bred upon a douche, another gunner in his sights (yeah...revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night...blinded by the light, etc etc)

OMG detective smart ass posted......that's my hand in her avatar. :)

Most songs that were made in the 70s or early 80s I can only sing phonetically. Because I started to learn English in 1986 and it took me a few years to properly understand lyrics. (This is why I do not sing along in public.)

Haven't heard this song for a while but today when I heard it I laughed because I always think he's saying..... Every time you go away, you take a piece of meat with you.
May be someone has been hanging out with Sylvia Lee at the Meaty Treat

*hugs and sances around the lounge with Crunch* Yay! Either you escaped or made it too the attic where Sunny and Ben are, busily working on the computer Nikkie kindly gave them so they could make the extension, -either way, yay! You are back.

"wanna be the freak $h1t in your jeans..." was what my mother heard in a Fall Out Boy song (Sugar We're Going Down's "friction in your jeans")

Maybe a tad innapropriate, but it made me giggle.

Nobody responded to the 2nd song of Detective Smart Ass's.

"There's a bathroom on the right" would actually be "There's a bad moon on the rise" by Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Am I right DSA?

I know of a band that intentionally sings the lyrics to Bad Moon that way - "There's a bathroom on the right." Most people don't even notice.

When I was a young girl, I watched the Doris Day show, and I always thought she was singing to a girl named Kay Sarah. (Que sera, sera, whatever will be, will be . . .)
