I'm sure a lot of you noticed that we were down off and on Sunday.

First off, I'm very sorry about the hassle. Optimizing high traffic web servers is tricky business, and I'm no expert on it.

I made some changes that I was hoping would improve things, but in the process, I broke some things that were previously working.

Anyway, the server is back up now, and hopefully it is running better, ut we'll have to wait and see how it performs during peak hours.

Expect more periodic outages over the next few days. Hopefully none will be as long as Sunday's but, it's tough to predict how these things will go.

As always, we appreciate your patience.

Just to let you know, I'm having the opposite affect. Beginning on Monday (I usually take Sundays off) the speed at which the pages load is much slower than it used to be. I'm not complaining, just to letting you know that there still might be some speed issues. But The pages are taking about 25-30 seconds to refresh now when it used to be less than 1 second. And that makes the game almost unplayable (almost... I'll still suffer through it because its such a fun game). But it is difficult when each case takes about 45 minutes to play becuase of the page loading times. But other than this issue, you have created a wonderful game.

Speed is relative to the number of people logged in and it seems the time of day.

I was on this morning (9 am EST) with about 45+ other people and things flew along.

I was on again in the afternoon (2 PM EST) and could not load a page without getting an error message.

Now (6 PM EST) things seem to load at a slower speed than this morning, but no issues of not loading at all.

yeah, like Anstett said, its the demand. I'm on at a variety of times of day, and the server seems to work best kinda right-nowish (that being 3AM Wed EST. Pages flip faster than superman on pancake day.

It can be slow at high demand times but ya...more good days than bad ones = good mantra for the frustrated masses, squirrel!

I think it is getting better, right now there are 95 people logged on, sleuth is slow, but not as bad as it has been. Hopefully all of the new people will stick around. More detectives, more agencies, more competition, and more subscriptions = more nice things for us.

Alright, I think this phase of optimization is over. We've gotten about a Two-fold decrease in average load times, so I'm going to give the server a rest for a little while. That means not as much intentional downtime over the next few weeks.
