Heh, no, I decided against requiring language skills to interact with certain people.

I was just kidding about the language thing. I'm sure we'll get by with a few phrases from travel guidebooks and lots of gesturing.

Although it would be fun to have tragic misunderstandings.....
....well, maybe....
Like in German, "Gift" means poison. All sorts of interesting possibilities there...

Wayne, I certainly hope guidebooks and gestures will be enough! I have enough trouble communicating with people in a hardware store! Anything but language skills, please! :)

I'm not sure how we can gesture names to ask about evidence, but I am sure we don't need language skills - they'd make some detectives wait too long to be able to get to all the cities. (I just typed faster than my brain read yesterday.) :)

The way I see it you'd probably travel with a guide for your first cases and when you have enough experience you'll be able to understand it on your own as a result of being immersed in the culture. Or if he were inclined to do so he could make language skills incredibly cheap(1-2 skill points and less expensive for people with smart... I kid I kid)

Don't forget to get your pounds and rupees and renminbis, too! This should be called "Sleuth: The Amazing Race". :P
