In new york when you do the favors who is best in town to end up on your contact list?

Is there anywhere besides lucys that you can find the elusive books?

besides solving the regular cases, and favors for the towns people, and factions, and chat is there any other facets of the game that an unsubsc. can get envolved with to make the game a little more full?

I did a favor for a towny and got this horrible hat as a payment not my pi's taste is there any way i can sell or trade the thing?

besides solving the cases is there any other ways to make money for an unsubsc. that im unfamilliar with?

Hiya,

1. It doesn't really matter at all unless you are trying to provide a specific contact that an agency is lacking. In any city, you'll eventually get one physical evidence (PE) contact and one witness evidence (WE) contact...some people try to get the same PE contact in as many cities as possible. PE contacts are more useful than WE contacts, but after that basic distinction none is any more useful than another.

3. The message boards are great! There is also an offsite chat located at www.sleuthchat.com

4. Get thee to the detective shop. Or, if you prefer, "shoppe". You can sell it there and see if you like their alternatives, or simply wait till you get another hat as a favor and trade then.

5. (sort of 4a, actually) Yeah, by selling favor items. Someone should correct me if I'm wrong about this, but I think that even at the early levels favor items are worth far more than case rewards.

I'm moving this over to the newbie board...while you're there definitely check out the sticky thread at the top entitled "Welcome Newbies". Still the best thread ever.

ok...

1. Books.
I'd try consulting a faction your in good standing with and see what light they can shed on books for you...

2. Favour Items.
The Detective Shop (magnifying glass on map) is probably you're only option there. Sell it and maybe buy something from the shop. But really I'd just sell it and wait for something better to come up in the favours. (Since you're unsubbed, there's no way to trade with another player as you'd need access to an Agency to do that)

3. Money.
Sell your favour items at the Detective Shop. (though you're prob. aware of that option). That's it though. [Selling favour/reward items is how most of us make out money, subbed or not. (besides the horse races at Shanghai and whether you make money on those is dubious ...)]

4. " other facets of the game"... I think you've covered them all for unsubs? Anyone wanna help me out here...?
* regular cases & favour cases
* faction standings & trying to get 'highest' faction standing
* chat & contributing to the boards
* collecting books
* writing a random mystery intro
I'm sure I'll have missed something. Chelsea might add 'developing the evil genius within'. But I think that's a personal thing :D
