Chris rubbed his eyes tiredly an contemplated his findings with a detached sense of horror. He knew that Violet's life was in danger. She's been targeted in New York and will remain a target even here in Shanghai. Barry took the brunt of the first attack and Chris sabotaged the second one. The incident at the docks was independent decided Chris. He smiled cruelly when he remembered how easy it was to apprehend the detective wannabe. Further digging revealed that he had 'reformed' after almost getting caught. Chris made a note on one of the names he had down, he'll have to look into this DuBaarie character, and she might have a role to play in all of this.
Christopher did not plan to dissuade Violet from her delusions that the Arsenio muck was going to be dissuaded from pursuing them so easily. He was sharp and tenacious Chris admitted to himself grudgingly but he was more suited to be a journalist than a detective, he was nowhere near good at hiding his presence when required. So, to avoid him being a pest, Chris planned to arrange a meeting with a certain old lady once her background check comes back.

Now back to the real issue, Violet. She seemed too distressed about the whole kidnapping thing to notice what's been staring her right in the face. Chris was staring at three pictures forlornly; Violet's, her father's and Mrs. Georges'. Violet shared her father's aristocratic poise and grace, they shared an attractive facial bone structure, and both their eyes emanated intelligence and mirth. Mrs. Georges' picture was one that was taken in her youth. She looked rather pretty with no artificial colors on her face. She had dark soulful eyes and a button down nose and silky black hair. Chris brought that picture closer to Violet's and sure enough, Violet's dark soulful eyes and button down nose and silky black hair were right there mocking him.
'Why do I have to be the one to notice this' He moaned pitifully. His suspicions began when Mrs. Georges decided to stop struggling and went all quiet on them. Her silence was very eerie to him until he remembered the way Violet always goes deathly silent when she's watching someone and trying to figure them out. Those thoughts were compounded the other night when Mrs. Georges got drunk in the Bar and started calling Violet a bastard. All the pieces seemed to snap into place then, and Chris was left overwhelmed. Chris acquired the last piece earlier that night. The telegram from London was tucked in his pocket and its presence was a painful reminder of the words that came with it. It would be a long time before he could forget those words.
Mr. K,
The information was not easy to come by and I consider my debt fully paid for obtaining it. I don’t know what made you think to investigate this but you were right. Mrs. Parr is not Violet's mother. She was barren. The records were expertly hidden and most of them discarded but the documents I managed to get are conclusive. Isent you a copy.

Christopher cursed again and pumped his head on the desk for the umpteenth time that night and wished fervently for a drink.

Yoyo entered the bar. The giant of a man straightened out his suit. He walked up to the bartender and ordered an Irish whiskey. The bartender poured him a drink and slid the glass across the counter. Yoyo nursed the drink. Looking around the bar he could see the usual clientelle, except for two people, they seemed to be new to the bar. Yoyo sluched in his stool and pushed his long blond hair back. After taking another sip from his drink he motioned to the bar boy. 'Who are they?' yoyo asked.
'Don't know sir, I heard they came off a boat earlier today'. Interesting yoyo thought. He thanked the boy, continued drinking and occasionally glanced at the newcomers who seemed to be a couple.

He slipped into the room, and went to a quiet corner. Spotting his quarry at the bar he stayed back in the shadows. A great detective, but sometimes gets carried away with saving others, he thought to himself.
"Scotch, neat" when the waitress came by. "And make sure his tab is paid in full before he leaves", pointing to the blonde gentleman at the bar.

Yoyo watched as a number of people in fancy clothing entered the bar and walked to Shady in the corner. Yoyo watched as three girls in flapper dresses entered the establishment. This struck Yoyo as particularly odd, people didn't enter a bar like the ritz in those clothes or they didn't mix with the 'rif raf' at all. He snapped his fingers at the waitress and pointed at his now empty drink, in dicating for more. Yoyo continued watching the trio they seemed to be having a conversation with shady. Right before leaving shady gave each of them a yellow and green poker chip. Yoyo continued watching them as they excitedly left the bar.
The people in the corner were still there, still engaing in conversaton.

He sipped his drink. He was trying not to stand out this time, keeping people on their toes if they wanted to chase him down. It seemed he was always chasing after some woman, this Ivy was jumping from city to city. But he was sure he could find her before the Prince had to wait too long.
Then he saw an intesting sight. His old hunting companion AndreaX some in for a drink at the bar.
He motioned the waitress over again. "What ever she is having put it on my tab. " He sat back to watch Yoyo's back as he was watching everyone else.

Miss Violet Parr tilted her large purple hat to cover the part of her face everyone in the Ritz Bar could see. She scanned the room with the edges of her sight before she took in a deep breath and spoke. “We are here now Christopher. What is it that you needed to tell me so urgently, that Aisha could not be here with us to witness?”
“Where is she?”
“Back at the motel, do not worry she is drunk, asleep and the door is locked. We have a good three hours before us. Please tell me your news with haste; I have had enough surprises during this past month or two.”
“I will Vi, it is just that… Why are you acting so shady? Covering your face with your hat and turning away from me and the crowds?”
Miss Parr nodded towards the Bar sitting area. “I noticed an old friend, his name is Yoyo. I do not know if he noticed my existence in the bar, but I do wish to avoid a confrontation. He knows that I am never in Shanghai and he will most definitely enquire about my business here. My friends know that I mostly travel between London, where I live, and New York, where I work.”
“Did you just say Yoyo?” Christopher Keller turned his head to look, but Violet grabbed his hand and squeezed it hard to prevent him from doing so. “Aw! God you’re strong! I know him, Yoyo. We worked together for a while.”
Violet acknowledged what a small world of sleuthing this was and continued. “Then, there is the interesting case of Mr. R Anstett. Ran -as he is better known to most people who know him- was very kind to me when I was still an up and coming detective. He would send me his chauffeur whenever I should visit Shanghai and he constantly showered me with compliments and words of admiration whenever our paths would cross.”
Christopher yawned. “Easy on the ego Violet…”

“Christopher! I am telling you some really private matters so please! No teasing!” Miss Parr turned slightly red. “At any rate, I soon felt that Ran was attracted to me. Some would describe it as casual attraction, but I feared it was love. You know how old-fashioned I am, Christopher, when it comes to these matters. The only way I could have dealt with it was to politely run away.”
“Violet, listen to me my good friend, I really need to speak to you concerning a matter of urgency and importance, tonight as I was-”
“I think Mr. R Anstett just saw me… oh no… he is looking towards the door… Well that is simply impossible… of all the people who could walk into this bar…”
Christopher turned to see a stunningly beautiful though somewhat short young woman walk into the Ritz Bar. He turned to Violet. “Who is she?”
“You mean to tell me you have never head of Miss X?”
“Oh… is that the famous Andrea X?”
Miss Parr arched an eyebrow. “Indeed. A powerful woman, leader of an even more powerful organization, whose path crossed mine through a mutual friend of ours… well a ‘friend’ would be understating it in her case.”
“What are you talking about Violet?”
“I am talking about none other than Mr. Barry Grant. A very vivacious love story spun between him and Miss X. I just do not know what she is doing here in Shanghai. She should be with Mr. Grant in New York… Heavens, this bar is filled with familiar faces now: Yoyo, Ran, Andrea… and here comes someone else now… Do you think any one of them noticed me?”
Christopher Keller rolled his eyes. “Violet, you are dressed entirely in violet!”
A puzzled look grew on Miss Parr’s face. “No, I am wearing purple.”
“Violet, if you are going to be this self-conscious may be we will need to move this conversation elsewhere. What I am about to tell you is of extreme importance to you and your life.”

“Christopher, do not be so melodramatic, I beg of you. With all that has been going on, we need to remain as grounded as physically possible. You want discretion? We will not get it in the Ritz Bar.”
“So…”
“So where do you suggest going?”

"Christopher you idiot! Come on!"
"That voice..." Arsenio said to himself as a walk in the midnight moon refreshed his senses.
"Her..."
Arsenio took a left at the alley and found the woman in the Violet dress along with her goon. "Them again."
Arsenio took out his Deringer pistol ready to fire.
The two caught site of Arsenio. Arsenio hit Christopher in the face with the Pistol and took Violet deeper into the alley and aimed her with the gun.
"Why are you here again? You should have gone back to New York!" Arsenio declared to Violet. "I am looking for someone for your information 'Arsenio'. "
"Violet let's not go through this again you know he's hunting you in Shanghai!" Arsenio shouted to Violet lowering his pistol. "Why don't you put that thing away and I'll tell you!" Arsenio obediently followed.
"Some woman is causing trouble and I am looking for her to do her good." Violet said. "
