Nothing to do. I think you'll have to quit the case.

Just a quick point that the Townies will not give you motive, just additional suspects to ask. It is the suspects that you have to ask for motive. If all of your suspects are clammed and you have no motive, then you will have to quit the case.

I have 1 case like this. I know "who done it" but don't have the motive and all the suspects have clammed up.

I was under the impression that if I gained more skills I'd be able to unclam 1 of them to give me a motive (i.e. higher degree of interogation, etc.). Is this not the case? Once they all close their trap its impossible to get 1 to talk regardless of gaining new skills?

no, once they have clammed on you, more skills won't get them to talk. But if a townie clams and you later get him as a contact, he will unclam

That's if you are subscribed, in an agency, and are saving your cases.

Now a clammed suspect will SOMETIMES unclam if another person in the agency looks at you case

Yes, and they will sometimes unclam if you get the surveillance skill; there's another trick you might have up your sleeve, also.

But in general, it's important to ask about motive thoroughly before asking other questions, at least until your suspect list is complete.

If you do that, the only one possibly missing a motive is your client.

If you end up needing to get names from the townspeople, they will show up without motive, but hopefully give you a new suspect which will later reveal their motive (if that makes any sense.)

If people are clamming up on you too soon, you might need to drop down a level for a while until you have better skills or gear, and subscribing and joining an agency is always worthwhile.

You hit the nail on the head Moonshh. My murderer IS the client.

I'm subscribed, in an agency and have the file saved. I'm not quite ready to give up hope on this case LOL.
