Is it worth having "underworld connections" ? I don't want to save up skill points then find out that it's not worth the wait !

Underworld Connections enables you to find suspects that have gone into hiding and as such it can save you having to run around town using valueable questions on the townspeople.

But like most of the faction skills it's not a skill that is really essential for you to get early on as it doesn't help you progress to higher case levels faster. It's more one of those skills that are nice to have when you get there, and then of course it will make things easier :)

However, one thing you also need to be aware of is that Underworld Connections is the faction skill from the Eastern Triads, an organisation which you can only find in London and Shanghai, and thus isn't available to unsubscribed players.

Greyling, Underworld Connections is in the list of available skills to be purchased. It seems to be available to any agent...though perhaps it's those favorable with Eastern Triads get some type of discount.

It is the most expensive skill, for what that's worth.

right, but since you canīt travel if not subscribed, so you wonīt get to ET.

I don't think its available to every agent is it? I think you need to get it from Triads

Gradbeth, right...it isnt available to just ANY detective...I have that skill, and you have to be "IN" with the Eastern Triads b4 you can get it. It is not listed ,like the other ones are, as a skill you can just GET. It is a Factions Special Skill. (it is not listed under the available skills to get) I think it says somewhere in parenthesis, special skills have to be purchased from the faction) I have to go look and see now what it says but I know its not listed as an available skill for just anyone.

I clicked on my available skills, and this is what it says along the bottom of the box...I'm copying and pasting it...."Hypnotism, Pick Pocketing, Pugilism, Safe Cracking, Surveillance and Underworld Connections can only be learned from faction bosses". So it is not listed under available skills to collect. ;)

Right! You've got to be in with the ET to the tune of 25 faction points AND have the skill points needed for your character to buy that skill. However, although you can only buy it from the ET in an ET city, it does work all the time and in every city, once you have it. Not an essential skill, and not one to focus on before many others are gotten, but nice to have once you do have it. It saves all that annoying running around to townspeople, especially in the almost impossibles where they sometimes clam up WAY too fast...

My mistake...I missed that quote at the bottom of the page. Thanks to all for the correction.

Okay, I've been kind of curious about this for awhile... I kind of assume each faction has its own special skill. Which faction has what?

Dies Arcanum is pickpocketing, I know, because they're the only one that I'm like "in" with.

And Eastern Triads is apparently "Underworld Connections".

If I had to guess I would say "Surveillance" comes from the Order of Socrates since they operate in City Hall. And pugilism from the mob just based on general mafia stereotypes. However, I have little idea what the other factions are like or do, because I haven't been able to travel yet. Since I just paid Shady like, $2000 that I was saving for my speakeasy... *sob*

Anyway, those are just guesses... I was wondering if anyone would tell me which skills are associated with each faction.

That said, I think I am seriously picking up my faction skill as soon as I have enough points. My clients turn out to be guilty A LOT... AND I WANT MY SPEAKEASY. I don't care if I'm the only detective in my agency. I want to operate out of a speakeasy and that's that.

It is my dream. With no bloody photos. Or lots of them...
