Cricket huh?
Hmmm, It sounds like a rather complicated semi-formal sport. But I can't figure out how they get those noisy insects to play it.

You could describe it as complicated, but I'd choose the words intricate, subtle and arcane before that, Professor Woo. :)

Oh and in answer to your question, Arthur Granville Smith (can I call you Aggers? :-D), cricket started becoming more watchable when Geoffrey Boycott retired.

Please feel free to call me Aggers, Jake (although I'm not sure what the significance is!) Should I be calling you something else then?

I think cricket is quite a simple game - I've got to grips with it very quickly! Of course, as with most sports, you have to devise your tactics and counter-tactics to suit each match, which is where it gets interesting.

Who's the former player who's commentating on the Ashes whose every other comment to the current bowler seems to be "Give 'em one in the ribs"? That's not our Geoff is it?

You obviously are new to Cricket ;)

The BBC test match special team has a way of abbreviating everybody's name. Aggers, Blowers and so on. I saw your initials AGS and immediately thought of Aggers (Jonathan Agnew). You'll not have heard that famous bit of live commentary when Aggers made Brian (Johnners) Johnstone wet his pants laughing on Radio 4? You'd never forget him wheezing "Oh, stop it Aggers!". A moment of radio genius.

Oh and I expect so. Sounds like something that stubborn old git (I mean that affectionately) would say... Are you thinking of the old bloke with the wonky grin in the white fedora with the MCC hatband?

Well, they never show the commentators while they're commentating, do they? :-) I can picture him from your description though.

It just made me laugh - there are all the others discussing the "finer" points of how the bowler should bowl against a specific batsman, and his answer to everything is to "give 'em one in the ribs". I thought cricket was a "gentlemanly" game!

I miss cricket, I haven't seen a game in ages. I'm glad England won the Ashes though... Aussie Aussie Aussie BOO BOO BOO, they're losing everything at the moment. GO THE AB's TRI-NATION WINNERS!

We haven't won the ashes yet, Lady Emerald... Australia could win at the Oval and level the series 2-2. If they do that they keep the urn. It's all to play for...

*laughs* Really? See what living in Korea does to a person!
Silly Australia. Underarm bowling freaks. Still, better than bribing refree South Africa, cheating scum.
