Detective Biography
Professor Woo
- Born in Taishan, China.
- Came to America to teach Philosophy at Columbia University.
- After 2 years of teaching was not tenured, so he moved to Chinatown to help investigate the crime between the various Chinese tongs (family associations, political alliances and secret crime syndicates.)
- Does what little he can to help keep Chinatown from being overrun with the criminal element. Does so by acting as an informant / go-between with some of the more reputable tongs and the mayor's office (via a politically well connected society called "The Order of Socrates.")
- Is constantly put in the tough position of knowing when to keep both sides informed of what the other knows and when to keep things hush-hush. Tries to do this without letting each side know his full involvement with the other.
- Also has to make a living, so he works in a small office offering services as a private investigator, mediator, and notary public.
