Some of us have interesting reasons to pick a detective name. What is yours?

jstkdn which some people don't realize right away stands for JuST KiDding! It is something I tend to say a lot in real life after a lot of sentences. A good friend of mine in the US had jstkdn as a license plate of her car, so I wasn't that inventive myself.

My previous other agent was PM, which stands for Project/Program Manager, my profession in real life.

My only detective that I currently play with is freelancermountaineer. Only because Freelancer was taken. Sidney Bristow in the Alias series uses two call signs freelancer and mountaineer.

Detective Timothy Hong is named after our cat, Timothy (who was knocked down by a car back in January).

Detective Timothy Hong also likes referring to himself in the third person.

LemonyShepard...wow this is a long and confusing story. K, so one day in my high school me and my friends were drawing random doodles on a locker (like the bad kiddies we are). I drew a sheep and then wrote the letters 'LS' on it (the night before I watched a series of unfortunate events by lemony snicket). From then on, I have drawn these sheep everywhere i go, making them my insignia. Since the letters 'LS' were written in htem, I called them the LemonySheep. Which, obviously, let my friends to calling me the LemonyShepard. (i pretty much use that name on every online game/forum I ever go on)

I play all games that involve explosions of some kind (first person)..and I run a teamspeak server on my linux box and one night, one of the guys was imitating a strafing run.

"Infantry sighted...blakow blakow blakow!"

That and I sometimes say "Shiggity blakow" when accentuating something. Weird, I know...

And there we go!

I have to admit, I ripped my name off from a character in the Nintendo GameCube/Plastation 2 game, Timesplitters 2.

WAAAAAAAAAAY back before the internet, when I was in college, we had a college-wide network with a chat set-up. One of the names I used there was "Moonshadow," as I was in a Cat Stevens phase at the time. One time I typed moonsh by itself and hit enter too early, so I went with that shorter version as less to type. Then I had to change it at some point when the internet came around and I had to re-register for some site or other, so now I am moonshh all over the place online. It's rarely taken by someone else, so I get to use it almost all the time.

Dr. Falco Maltese...probably obvious? It's a nod to the noir classic "The Maltese Falcon," and besides it just seemed kind of cool. I think I made him a doctor because of the archetype I chose, but now I can't imagine him without the Dr. in front...Falco is also a singer, Austrian, I think, with such songs as "Der Komissar" and "Rock Me Amadeus." I thought the connection with Der Komissar was appropriate, too. Turns out another player who actually /is/ Maltese was very disappointed that I am not, and that it has nothing to do with Falco's name. Sorry!

My name may look kind of strange, but I have a liking for Welsh for some reason. I was putting some different phrases together and came up with this one: Lais gan 'r cysgodi. In English it means "voice in the shadows." I just pushed the first three words together and got my name. Laisgan'r Cysgodi.

I named myself after a pretty cool toy monkey that I own. This isnt as sad as it sounds as he has a spacesuit lol. Unfortunately I kind of killed Marmalade and marmalade2 so I'm marmalade3. Not that inperssive but hey. I like lemonyshepard's name but I don't think thats how you spell shepherd ;-) or maybe thats the american spelling. I also have a detective named from the pirate monkey pirate name generator. Crazy or what?
