Pick Pocketing is kind of a whimpy skill. Since it was little effect on the actual case (only allowing you to get $$ if the client did it), perhaps there would be another way that Pick Pocketing could used for.
1. (this come come up when you first meet the suspect) You see (the suspect's) journal laying on coffee table. As he turns to shut the door, you silently flip through a couple pages. As you glance down, the names (answer to a question)

or

2. When used with Survielence, since you are watching a suspect, it raises the proability of successfully tracking down the suspect's movements.

Having never had pickpocketing, I'm no authority on the subject ... BUT ... it sounds extremely good!

Today, I had four cases in which the client was the perp. At my level, that's cost me about $2000! At higher levels, obviously, the cost is even greater. Therefore, I want pickpocketing!

But with more suspects (as the higher levels have) the odds increase that your suspect will not be the guilty party. Therefore it gets used less and less as it stands.

I think pickpocketing has been extremely helpful for me and it does help the newer people out because when you're a newbie every $ counts. I would say even more valuable for a newbie not in an agency when you have to buy your own equipment.

That's a cool idea to be able to pickpocket Shady!! Haha the man doesn't need all that money. ;-)

I've kept notes on all cases and found a big percentage are the client's guilty, therefore, the pick pocket skill really helps. Concerning the Shady Man, I wish it didn't cost agent's, who has great experience points, nearly three-forths of their funds. But, I do know this, the last time I lost over half of my hard earned money, I stopped taking chances..lol. So, as in real life "hard lessons", the Shady Man keeps us all on our toes.

But if there's no shady guy, how can we clean our records?

Isn't it ironic that a detective, an upholder of truth and justice, need a help from some criminal to cover up his mistake from time to time?

Back on topic...

Maybe I was just lucky, but when I was playing on easier levels I had some cases which clients turned out to be the culprit. I am currently playing the hard level and still have no such case lately.

I really stopped noticing how many I got since it doesn't matter to me any more. :D

My luck ended up today. I had not one, but TWO cases in a row which the clients became murderers themselves. The first client was the victim's wife, killed her husband because he wanted a divorce. The second client was the victim's insane niece, who was still sane enough to hire me to catch herself. Sheesh, what's wrong with people these days?

I lost $340 on each hard level case. I was still lucky that a favor for the fortune teller gave me a $1,600 worth gold bangle.

I will try not to tempt the fate next time.
