I was on an intermeadiate case and had narrowed down 3 suspects. A townie said Radcliffe, a suspect with a real alibi, thought he knew who the murderer was. I asked him and he saw Abdullah dispose the murder weapon. I could not confirm this with any material evidence, for the townies had clammed up. But, since the witness saw the suspect dispose of the murder weapon, I thought that was enough and accused him. But that was false! Can the suspects lie?

Yes the suspects can lie. If you are relying on eyewitness evidence, with NO false or "none of your business" alibi, you need 2 eyewitness accounts to be sure you have the right guy.

They are all lying dogs! Don't trust them!! Well, actually mr mason is right - there are circumstances - like two fingering the same suspect or one if the alibi is false. But in my heart, I believe they ARE all lying dogs. I am much happier with a thread or a footprint.

I know people claim one witness accusation is enough if the alibi is false, but I am still not sure about this...so I make my decisions accordingly when I am playing.

Thanks, mr. mason, bigdoc and Moonshh! This is very ellucidating. So far, whenever I got "yes, I suspect someone because I saw him...", the case was solved. It was really a surprise to find they could be misleading, especially because the lying suspect had a real alibi and had seen the other suspect simply dispose of the murder weapon! I'll be more cautious now...

You can ignore the reason they give you (murder weapon, stolen watch etc...). The reason is not important. Whats important is if the person they suspect has a fake/none alibi or if other witness named the same person.

a suspect could have PE but still be innocent right?

Yes, all suspects with PE are innocent with the only exception being the killer (who has a PE in every case).

the key is FAKE or NONE as alibi (if u rely on PE)

Just to make sure - a FAKE or NONE alibi with any type of evidence is enough? Or is PE more reliable than WE?
I hope at least that real alibi always means not guilty :))

real alibi- not guilty
fake or none with a PE or witness - guilty
2 witnesses pointing at same suspect- guilty

This u can always trust!
