Please help. The only suspect I have on list died. I asked her any other suspects that may have motive for killing but she clammed. When I returned to try my luck, she was dead. What do I do?

You may notice the option "Ask if he/she has heard anything about the case" when visiting the butcher, priest, bartender, waitress, and music teacher. Visit some of them and click on that option. Some of them won't know anything about the case. But some of them will say something like "Yes, so-and-so hasn't heard or seen anything suspicious." Whoever they mention will become a suspect. However, be warned, if the person they mentioned ends up being the killer, you will still have to get another suspect to say they have a motive, otherwise you won't be able to accuse them.

Hope that helps.

Don't know if I agree, Jake. There are alternative ways to find more suspects. You can only find alibis from the suspect him/herself.

Which is precisely what I told her. And I HAVE tried it out, and it's worked fine. Yes, it's risky because they don't give you a motive, but by giving you a suspect, they give you a chance to get MORE suspects: more suspects who CAN give you a motive for the suspect you get from the store owners. I admit, this is not the preferred way to get suspects, but particularly in the case Nancey mentioned--where she found herself without any suspects at all--there really isn't any other option is there?

Boys behave (or should I say Jake behave.) I don't think starting debates on the newbie board are a smart thing, nor making fun of other detectives. Although most of us can take a hit, a newbie visiting for the first time, maybe a permanently put off by a reply of someone. Keep in mind, it is THEIR introduction to the community, and it is important to make a good impression.

Nancy...

Rule of thumb, ask motive first. You won't find all suspects if you don't.

Sometimes asking the Fortune teller, Waitress, Butcher, Priest, Bartender, and Music teacher (NOT the rest of the towns people) if they know anything about the case, it can unlock extra suspects, usually no more 2 or 3 I believe. Problem is if these suspects are already identified, then it won't help.
Also asking the town people if they know anything about the case, means you can ask that particular towns person 1 question less. This can became a problem later, if you need to check alibi's.

I think the best play is this:
1. Ask motive first
2. If you don't get all, ask your contact first.
3. Then the rest.

An option is to also do a quick check on the suspects, on who they say they were with for alibi's. Then you ask the towns person you don't require (as much) the question if they know anything about the case.
