The factions in the game obviously were inspired by real life organizations. The Cosa Nostra is fairly obvious as the Sicilian mafia has the same name. Same with the Chinese Triads. About the others there is more guessing but this is my take;
-Dies Arcanum Brotherhood ---> Opus Dei
-Order of Socrates ---> Freemasonry
-Circle of Light ---> Scientology
-Green Hand ---> Earth First
