Hello everyone. I’ll be hosting another game of Resistance, and I encourage all lurkers from the previous game(s) to come out and play! We’ll keep it simple with just gameplay and no story this time. And if you’ve never played before, feel free to jump right in, because we all need more imaginary problems to worry about. :)

The game takes place over a series of 5 "missions." The Resistance is trying to complete 3 missions successfully, while the spies are attempting to sabotage 3 missions. First one to 3 wins.

I will serve as game master. Once we get enough people to play (5-10 total), I will PM everyone their allegiance (either "Resistance" or "Spy"). If you are a "Spy," I will also PM you the names of your co-conspirators.

A "leader" will be chosen at random for the first mission. The leader has 2 important functions:
1) The leader will assign various "role" abilities to players. These are one-shot special powers a player can use to learn more information about someone.
2) The leader will assign players to the "team" for that mission.

Missions will have a varying number of players who are selected; the leader picks a team, then every player will vote on whether or not they approve the team by PMing me. Once all the votes are cast, I will post the voting results. If a majority approves the team, the mission starts. If not, the mission does not start, and the next player in line becomes the new "leader" for that round. This continues until either a mission is approved, or 5 consecutive mission teams are rejected (in which case the spies win automatically.)

Once a mission team is approved, those players will PM me their choice of action during that mission. Resistance players will ALWAYS choose to have the mission succeed by sending "Success," while spies have a choice: they can either elect to have the mission succeed (to throw off suspicion), or they can "Sabotage" the mission.

If an allegiance revealing card is drawn at the beginning of the next mission, we need to use it to learn the allegiance of one of the players on the failed mission. My preference would be that we use it to learn Bela's allegiance.

Zara, I find it highly suspicious that you have voted YES for every single team.

Miss Snopes has voted NO for only one team, that being the one that succeeded.

However, if they're both spies you would think Miss Snopes would not put Zara on her team.

I have little faith in the use of power cards where information is given via PM. A player can report anything back here on the game thread. I’d prefer that there were a couple more cards that required the exposure of mission votes. But I guess it’s fairly obvious why such a card would have to be used pretty sparingly.

Sindy, it would be interesting to know *why* you feel it is suspicious that I have voted YES so often (N.B. I unfortunately missed one deadline. Missy has read me absolutely correctly in her post at Jul-19-2017 12:27. It also sounds like you might be daring me to vote NO to this particular team proposal.

Well, today I’ve spent some time going back through this thread and selecting out the team proposals, mission votes, relevant explanatory comments etc. I’m rather surprised at some things I previously missed or overlooked, but it has helped me to make a decision on how to vote.

Now I have everything crossed. Fingers, toes, eyes ... I’m a human plait.

I think Bela has successfully changed my mind on my vote. To be honest I did not suspect Bela of being a spy (anymore than the rest of you) until she put Sal on her team. I truly suspect Sal. He has said the things he has done with both his cards are proof he's resistance. He explained his voting pattern away as alternating no/yes votes. I would have thought by the 4th team vote he would have had some opinion to suggest. I just don't feel Sal is giving me much to go by. The last Resistance game, I also thought he was a spy, but he kept working away at my arguments with his own, his logic finally won me over. So far he hasn't said much to change my mind.

@ Zara

Yes, it's true power cards can be used effectively by the spies and the resistance, but if you have two people confirming one person's allegiance you can be pretty sure about that person's allegiance. As I said in the beginning, you have to build layers of "evidence." The more layers you have, the better.

I'm pretty sure you can determine why always voting YES is suspicious.

@ Shell

I didn't suspect Bela of being a spy until she came out in support of AspenK. However, as I mentioned previously, her support of AspenK may have been prompted by her suspicion of me as a spy. As Sal said, she could be playing differently this game because there are more and different people. Also, I know for myself, I've been a little gun shy when it comes to Bela because I don't want to get into a shooting match with her like the last Resitance game we played - that would just be too de-ja-vuish. :D

Just made a post and I got logged out at the final step. @@

So lazy to retype. Just wanna say shell and Bela were making very good argument. However, for Bela, I thought the same as you said before. But everything depends on Sal's allegiance. SO I got stuck with it.

For snopes, now I see your way. I am wrong to say that you are not focusing on the game. My sorry. However, while I admit that it's a very careful work done by you, it's not so logical. I can agree with you about voting No for the team failed. It can give some positive idea that people might be a resistance. The reason is not because they know how things are going but because if they are a spy, they will not easy say no for a team they have a chance to sabotage. Of course, there are some exception also, that those spies were picked in the same team with more than 1 spy in it. Another reason, which is very less likely, is that they are quite sure about the other votes, so they just vote to throw away the suspicion without changing the game. So you can consider those possibility to keep tracking what is going on. It's fine if you suspect me also but, as I said, please make things reasonable.

The reason people always say yes does not tell you that they are resistance, Snopes. Because a true resistance will not easy say yes to everything. They must think carefully since they know nobody.

OK! And as shell said, I am going to vote NO because Zara is in this team. Sorry snopes.

Sindy, I'm going to have to disagree where you said "Yes, it's true power cards can be used effectively by the spies and the resistance, but if you have two people confirming one person's allegiance you can be pretty sure about that person's allegiance." That only works if the two people confirming are BOTH Resistance. In the last Resistance game, I was Resistance whereas Zara and Aspen were Spies. They each stated that powers revealed to them (in PMs) that I was a spy. So 2 people revealing something about a person means nothing to me unless I am 100% certain the 2 people revealing the info are Resistance.

Sorry, you'll have to wait. I had just put out my thoughts for shell and Sleuth ate it as I clicked post reply and I was booted off the website and had to log back on. I think I had made my reply clear and will try to recreate it, but I need some time and luck, luck in not having Sleuth make my reply disappear again.

Alternating vote calls for a YES

shell, what I actually said was everything I have done has supported the Resistance. I believe that's true. I voted SUCCEED on a SABOTAGED mission. I used the IN THE SPOTLIGHT on myself in response to requests to do so by other players, not my own volition. I likewise used KEEPING AN EYE ON YOU and told the truth about your vote, didn't I? I think a spy probably would have said you voted SABOTAGE to muddy the waters. But again, that was done in response to requests from other players. I would have preferred to hold those powers until their usefulness was greater, later in the game.

I have tried to use that same logic to point out some points that I felt were confusing and even contradictory, to try to clear them up for everyone to see. You say I haven't given you much to go by. I disagree. I have done everything to accommodate what has been asked of me and done it openly and truthfully.
