Hello everyone. I’ll be hosting another game of Resistance, and I encourage all lurkers from the previous game(s) to come out and play! We’ll keep it simple with just gameplay and no story this time. And if you’ve never played before, feel free to jump right in, because we all need more imaginary problems to worry about. :)

The game takes place over a series of 5 "missions." The Resistance is trying to complete 3 missions successfully, while the spies are attempting to sabotage 3 missions. First one to 3 wins.

I will serve as game master. Once we get enough people to play (5-10 total), I will PM everyone their allegiance (either "Resistance" or "Spy"). If you are a "Spy," I will also PM you the names of your co-conspirators.

A "leader" will be chosen at random for the first mission. The leader has 2 important functions:
1) The leader will assign various "role" abilities to players. These are one-shot special powers a player can use to learn more information about someone.
2) The leader will assign players to the "team" for that mission.

Missions will have a varying number of players who are selected; the leader picks a team, then every player will vote on whether or not they approve the team by PMing me. Once all the votes are cast, I will post the voting results. If a majority approves the team, the mission starts. If not, the mission does not start, and the next player in line becomes the new "leader" for that round. This continues until either a mission is approved, or 5 consecutive mission teams are rejected (in which case the spies win automatically.)

Once a mission team is approved, those players will PM me their choice of action during that mission. Resistance players will ALWAYS choose to have the mission succeed by sending "Success," while spies have a choice: they can either elect to have the mission succeed (to throw off suspicion), or they can "Sabotage" the mission.

I suspect she put Sal on the team because he is also a spy. Here is a list of the Missions and teams that have been proposed so far, along with how Sal voted.
M1/T1
Sal/Sindy/Aspen - no
M1/T2
Tyrano/Sindy/Aspen - yes. Successful mission
M2/T1
Sal/Tyrano/Sindy/Aspen- no (mission passed but was voted no confidence by Sindy)
M2/T2
Zara/Bela/shell/ Aspen - yes
M2/T3
Sal/Bela/shell/Tyrano- no (mission fails)

First off, every team he was to be on, he voted no to the team. Now if you notice M1/T1 thru M2/ T1 we have the same 4 people appearing on the teams. He voted yes to Ty/Sindy/Aspen a successful mission. But he voted no on the exact same team with him added on. He was in possession of both powers at the time of his no vote. Now, if you know you are resistance and you have two powers that can reveal information to you, surely you would vote Yes on the team,and try and persuade others to vote accordingly, then use one of the powers on Sindy's proposed team. Next he voted yes on a team with only one person from the M1/T2 team, that was a risky team to accept on the heels of the successful team.

So how do you stop two spies from both voting sabotage. Let's see, one way would be for spy one to use in the spotlight on spy two. Hence spy two must vote succeed. In this case spy one, told spy two to use spotlight on themselves.

I truly don't believe she would have put the third spy on the same team. Maybe, but at this time I think not.

So I can't, in good conscience, put Sal or Bela on my team. I might be wrong about them or at the very least wrong about Sal. But for right now, I need a team that is Resistance.

Since I'm pretty sure Ty is resistance I am giving him No Confidence and I will be keeping strong leader for myself.

As far as a team goes, I'm still debating who I will ultimately choose.

I am not sure if I caught you. I might get lost with your long post. Sorry if so.

As I understand, your analysis is really logical. Everything is almost perfect except one thing: Why did Bela pick a team with 2 spies in if she is a spy? I think she can pick a team with 3 resistance and her so she can sabotage a mission very easily. It really makes me confused about it. So do you have any logical explanation for it?

I am not trying to make things more difficult for you to consider. But I really hope that we can make a very good analysis and no single point even small can be missed.

Her team had to be accepted before it could be sabatoged. She raised doubts about Sindy, so she couldn't use her on the team. Aspen has been so quiet, that I think she makes many players nervous as to the possibility of her being a spy. Same goes for miss snopes. And Zara was on the last team proposal that Bela voted no on. It left Sal as the logical choice, most players haven't said anything negative about him.

I would say your explanation is very logical and I cannot make any argument. However, I am not sure if I should believe you a resistance. Please let me think (and take a rest too. It's 2 AM here)

One reason a spy would put another spy on his/her team is to potentially prepare the way to get two spies in the double-spy mission.

Shell, I think you have made a very straightforward and logical case. It also echoes much of what I've been thinking. I agree that there is good evidence to indicate that both Sal and Bela are spies.

In addition, Bela was very keen that Sal should use IN THE SPOTLIGHT on himself - thus basically telling him to vote SUCCEED, and that she would therefore SABOTAGE the mission.

Aspen also wanted Sal to use this card on himself (See her post on Jul-11-2017 10:42). And, despite Bela saying that she was 80% sure that Aspen was Resistance, she left her off the mission team. Why would she do that? One possibility is:

- She wanted to create an impression that Aspen is to be trusted as Resistance - hence the 80% comment.

- She doesn’t want 3 spies on the team as there might be confusion between her and Aspen as to which one of them is to vote SABOTAGE.

If I were selecting a mission team at this point I’d be going for -

- shell
- Tyrano
- Zara
- either Sindy or miss snopes

Actually if I’m right about Sal, Bela and Aspen then that would make all 5 names in my list RESISTANCE.

That’s where my thinking takes me so far.

I have two thoughts about AspenK:

1. Bela is a spy and she is hoping we'll believe that she is Resistance and therefore believe her when she says she is 80% sure AspenK is Resistance - but she is actually a spy.

2. Bela is using AspenK as a red herring to deflect suspicion away from an as yet silent spy. (i.e., If Bela is outed as a spy that will cast suspicion on anyone whom she has backed as being Resistance.)

That said, AspenK sets off my spydar.

shell, at your convenience (or whenever Sal returns) please propose a team. Then everyone must send me a PM with "Mission 3, Team 1: YES/NO". The deadline to vote will be 24 hours from the time shell proposes her team.

My introversion has always drawn attention in life. What can I say? I am a people watcher. I might need to have a drink or two to loosen me up. Haha. As for my feelings about who is or isn't a spy, no one is to be trusted. Haha. Actually I am not sure about anyone. I doubt Zara is a spy two games in a row, Bela played the same way last game, and Shell seems to be trying to hunt down spies. I am not sure what to think about Sal, but he voted succeed. It made sense to use the card on himself, it was probable that the mission would have been sabotaged. I would have done the same to protect myself and show where I stand. Miss Snopes I have no clue about. Sindy strikes me as a spy. I feel like she might be phoning in her attempt to suss out the spies. I think Ty deflects a lot, so I am leaning towards spy.
