Hello everyone. I’ll be hosting another game of Resistance, and I encourage all lurkers from the previous game(s) to come out and play! We’ll keep it simple with just gameplay and no story this time. And if you’ve never played before, feel free to jump right in, because we all need more imaginary problems to worry about. :)

The game takes place over a series of 5 "missions." The Resistance is trying to complete 3 missions successfully, while the spies are attempting to sabotage 3 missions. First one to 3 wins.

I will serve as game master. Once we get enough people to play (5-10 total), I will PM everyone their allegiance (either "Resistance" or "Spy"). If you are a "Spy," I will also PM you the names of your co-conspirators.

A "leader" will be chosen at random for the first mission. The leader has 2 important functions:
1) The leader will assign various "role" abilities to players. These are one-shot special powers a player can use to learn more information about someone.
2) The leader will assign players to the "team" for that mission.

Missions will have a varying number of players who are selected; the leader picks a team, then every player will vote on whether or not they approve the team by PMing me. Once all the votes are cast, I will post the voting results. If a majority approves the team, the mission starts. If not, the mission does not start, and the next player in line becomes the new "leader" for that round. This continues until either a mission is approved, or 5 consecutive mission teams are rejected (in which case the spies win automatically.)

Once a mission team is approved, those players will PM me their choice of action during that mission. Resistance players will ALWAYS choose to have the mission succeed by sending "Success," while spies have a choice: they can either elect to have the mission succeed (to throw off suspicion), or they can "Sabotage" the mission.

That is a great song, Sal. Brings back a lot of memories from what seems like a lifetime ago!

I was just rereading my post @ Jul-6-2017 08:50. What I meant to say was:

To say that we're not learning anything because we haven't gone on a mission is rather *disingenuous.*

I have seen them live at the now destroyed Shea Stadium in NYC on their FIRST farewell tour. The parking lot was insane. Nobody even went in when David Johannson started playing. The crowd started moving in before he finished thoug and befor "The Clash" came on and the Who obviously went last. I kept seeing ambulances leave behind the center field fence. I didn't know till the next day that people were being pushed over a guard rail like fence and broken and sprained legs were the order of the night. "Behind Blues Eyes: got the biggest reaction. I would have though "Who Are You" would but not that night. Great show. I took my son, a present for his 11th birthday so it had to be 1982. So for some people here, it was more than a lifetime Sindy. :)

Great show

I understand what you are saying about things. I don't know if I completely agree or not though. People can say anything and vote anyway they want for a team. Look I voted NO on my own team because of the BLAST I got for picking 3 names. I didn't realize so many people knew so much already. Checking team votes is much more valuable after a couple of missions have been completed, but then the squeeze is on and people have to start to really bear down and figure things out. There could be 4 spies on a first round and the mission would probably succeed, so get it out of the way and get to work. At least that's what I thought (and still do). That's why I voted YES this time. I could think up a thousand different scenarios before there's any evidence and one of them might even be right.

Any Sherlock Holmes reader knows that the famous detective always told Watson not to formulate theories in advance of the facts.

I will take his advance and wait until I see something.

If you only have one team on every mission, there aren't many team votes to check...

In any event, I'm very keen to see how this mission goes. And I don't want to start heckling over strategy with potential fellow Resistance members. Confirming our fellow Resistance members is really just as important as outing the spies. It's important to establish trust to the extent possible in the context of this game and stick together - don't let the spies divide and conquer.

I would say you made a sound-like-good reason, Sindy.

But look, the 1st team was also approved by Zara and shell and you just put your suspicion on AspenK. I would view it as an intentional "suspicion". And you know what, while reading your argument, I found this "possibly because you're both spies and he didn't want two spies on one mission". Let's see:

+) The 1st team Sal, sindy, AspenK ---> sindy say No
+) The second team: Ty, sindy, AspenK ---> sindy say No
+) Sindy suspects AspenK --> She has reason to not pick AspenK on the next team when she becomes the team leader

And "possibly because you're both spies and he didn't want two spies on one mission"

Does that make any sense? I can only say that you made a good reason but that reason, ironically, is against you.

anyway people approved the 1st mission which might be my bad to pick this team. But at least we see your thought, Sindy. We all will see what happens with this mission and then, the very next team pick.

In answer to your question shell, I'm going to copy and paste what Sindy said earlier today because it was the exact reason I voted NO this time:

"Why did I vote no? Because Sal skipped over you (Ty) - possibly because you're both spies and he didn't want two spies on one mission. Aspen K for whatever reason was very supportive of the team Sal proposed - possibly another spy?"

Now it could very well be that Sal did skip Ty for the reason he said and AspenK could have been so supportive of Sal's proposed team for the reason she said also but for now, I'm going to be suspect of every single comment, action or lack thereof.

And my 3rd reason was because Sindy voted NO to Sal's proposed team (which she was on) so it made me think she knew and/or suspected something or was wanting to hide something & since the 2nd proposed team had 2 of the original 3 members on it (including her), I decided those 3 things were enough to make me vote NO this time.

Actually, I didn't think I was suggesting a division. I was merely stating how I look at and approach the game, just as several others have ALREADY done.

Sal, I was slapping myself on the wrist - not anyone else. :)

Honestly, my number one reason, Sal, for thinking you might possibly be a spy is because having read all of the Resistance threads, I don't remember you ever being a spy - so I'm thinking surely you *must* be a spy eventually, right? The odds have got be toppling over on the side of your turn as a spy coming round. :D
